ally-b Posted December 10, 2006 Author Posted December 10, 2006 Huge thanks to everyone who took part today , especially with the horrid weather [st] Between us we raised and donated over £4250 in presents to Yorkhill childrens hospital . Thanks to the Santa(s) . Thanks to the 'shoppers' . Thanks to everyone who raised money towards todays event . Thanks to Strathclyde police for helping with traffic . Thanks to the hospital staff , porters and P.R.team . Thanks to press . Thanks to the kids who judged 'best decorated car' (and congratulations to Marty "Scoobaroo" - the winner!) And thanks again to all the members who helped to made this an excellent 'Santa Cruise' [Y] you are all [*][*][*][*][*] I'm sure that there will be some good pics posted soon . . . . Al
thewelsho Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Nice one. Didn't know there were two Asdas in Bishopbriggs. Guess who chose the wrong one?
micra_wrc Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 it must have been the wettest and windiest day ever but well done to those that turned up - I think we had 26 scoobies at Yorkhill [] some of the decorations were very OTT but it was worth it - we must have made quite an impact driving through Gla city centre well done everyone that helped raise money, thats an awesome total we've got [Y] its been a well organised 'do' and it was good that we got started early. same again next year then []
st3ph3n Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 You weren't the only one John (not me though). I think Scottish Scoobies are needing their own dedicated walkie talkie system. Think the essex lot all use two ways.
nanaki Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 just because i was half way to endinburgh when i realsised i had missed the turn off is beside the point!! I still made it back to the m80 on time though. pity i got there after the judging but a fun day was had by all. the faces of some of the kids in the wards were brilliant (as were some of the parents). same again next year.
scoobaroo Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 What a great day [] did someone mention the weater ! from start to finnish this was a great day for all who participated. Im sure weve made a little difference to some of the tiny soles who through no fault of there own, find themselves in hospital at this time of year. Makes it all worthwile [Y] Big thanks must go to our Santas, and the elves and pixies that done all the shopping trips [] Have loads of pics from the event which ill post up tomorrow as im working tonight [] Will be hard to better this years fund raising but plans are already afoot for next year. Till next year [au] [G] p.s. Ally, fine job m8 [Y] Marty.
marky.t.s Posted December 10, 2006 Posted December 10, 2006 Hi folks, had a great time today ,pitty about the weather, but i'm sure it was all worth it.I managed to put a few faces to the names on here, all seemed pretty friendly boys and girls i'm glad to say. Thanks to Peter for involving my son Ciaran in judgeing the decos on the cars,he loved every minute of it,especially waveing to everyone as we drove through the city centre with the horns blasting!!!! Anyway, i hope all the kids have a crackin' christmas, and to all involved in makeing thier christmas that little bit better. I,cant wait for the new year to get more involved in SS ,for runs ,meets etc.,as work just hasn't allowed it this year. So once again merry christmas to one and all. cheers, Mark.
karps Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Yet another fantastic acheivment by Scottish Scoobies, give yourselves a pat on the back one and all. The look on the kids faces makes it all worthwhile. I hope the other area santa cruises go as well as ours did today. Santa (one of them lol)
wheelchairscooby Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Well done to all it sounded like a fun day pitty about the weather
thewelsho Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You weren't the only one John (not me though).I think Scottish Scoobies are needing their own dedicated walkie talkie system. Think the essex lot all use two ways. Yeah. Got to the first Asda for 11.55, 5 mins before scheduled leaving time. Asked if there was another Asda, was told yes. Got there, 12.15ish, all gone. Shot along the motorway as fast as the poor drivers in front of me would allow, came off at the George Square turn off, and took a wrong turn just at the top of the city before George Sq. itself. Place was jammed up with traffic, and at 12.35 I aborted mission. Glad it went as well as it did though.
st3ph3n Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 You can't have missed as by much then John. It took us a while to get through the city.
sti pretender Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Nice one. Didn't know there were two Asdas in Bishopbriggs. Guess who chose the wrong one? You are not alone 3 of us sat in the other Asda carpark from 11. Decided at 11.45 it must be the other one and just managed to catch the others as they left. I think map co-ordinates for meeting points would help then we can check sites like multimap to be sure. There's always next year.
micra_wrc Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 sorry guys, thought it was clear which Asda we were meeting at [*-)] luckily some of you caught us up at Yorkhill
