zeolite Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Finally managed to get some gainful employment and is doing his RGIT survival this week. So if he doesn't drown or toast he will soon be offshore getting pennies to complete his rebuild. Well done mate and just wait until we work together [6]

scientific steve Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 and don't have any experience or a trade. Frank. same here [] didnt stop me though [] all the best with the new job bud [Y]
frank c Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 How did you get into it Steve and what do you do ? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers Frank
scientific steve Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 i sort of fell into it i did store/materials side of things for a bit and there was a position going at the company one of my mates was working at. got the job and did that for about 7 years, due to the fact i knew all the equipment, mechanics of the equipment and got on with the offshore engineers it was a easy step to work offshore been with this company for, wait for it, 16 years now [] worked offshore 9 of them i was sort of lucky to get the job the way i did, the company i work for (Scientific Drilling) believe in self promotion and are keen to see their employees go on to do better things within the company and were quite happy to see someone like myself go into the offshore side of things rather than move to another company i know this wont help you in your search for a job offshore [:$] but it is quite often the case of "who you know" rather than "what you know" have a chat with Acid, he just went through the bind of trying to find a job offshore and is now in employment with halliburton, worth a try
frank c Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Thanks Steve. Something i'll look into. Cheers Frank

micra_wrc Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 coulty - good luck in your new job zeolite - go easy on the newbie lol
RA Dunk Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 have a chat with Acid, he just went through the bind of trying to find a job offshore and is now in employment with halliburton, worth a try somebody called? [] i had 5 years in with transocean roustying/roughnecking before i started with halliburton so i wasnt exactly new to it all, BUT rumour has it were still looking to recruit new guys so chuck a CV into halliburton you never know your luck,im on the scott platform just now and know KCA are still recruiting so throw a CV into them, also try weatherford i hear they recently took some guys on and paid every cert for them to get offshore!!! if that fails i would say try the agencies macgregors, atlantic resourcing, rigman, omega etc etc. youll need a RGIT, medical, banksman slinger cert, or some kind of greenhand certificate, all of this costs a SH!T load of cash though so last resort if you know what i mean, and dont give up keep pestering companies agencies phoning them every day etc, giving the current climate it will happen but might not be overnight, best advice is bug them to death
dougster Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Well done Odd Job!! Don't take any snash from Zeolite. (pictured below) You'll not be the only one with BIG hair!
