Gumball Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 On a lighter note Peter was on his way to a meeting in Edinburgh Castle. He actually won Top Performing Manager in Scotland and Highest Brakes Sales in Scotland. LOL, glad hes OK and home again. ironic being up for an award for top brakes sales then meets someone he didnt managed to sell any to. glad its alright again and everythings calm
Dougie C Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Hope Peter and yourself are relaxing today Vicki!!!! Did you manage to get the car transported from Edinburgh yet? Dougie
vicki Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Oh well the saga continues. On first glace it didn't look that bad but .... Neither of our insurances covers the repair cos so having to fork out £4,500 plus £399 for the pick up from Edinburgh, to get her back on the road [:'(] just as well I have been saving for mods [:|] I am gutted to say the least but hopefully she will be good as new. Bodywork damaged but timing belt knackered and and valves and tons of other stuff. Should get her back in 2/3 weeks, I should have stopped crying by then []
frank c Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Sorry to hear Vicki..Hope it gets sorted soon. Frank
ANDYJDMSTI Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 whats the chances the little sh1ts get about 50 hours community then a free holiday to spain [:@] I would have used their own weapons on them if i caught them
stripe Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Thats a total p*sser Vicki, really sorry to hear this. Hope you get your baby back soon
Dougie C Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Why wont the insurances companies fork out for the repairs Surely they have to never heard of that before. Take Care Vicki and Peter Dougie
dipsy Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Like Dougie c why won't the insurance company pay out for the repairs??.Thats a hell of lot of your hard earned money to fork out. When you have car insurance
vicki Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 I am fully comp for my car with no named drivers. Peters insurance only covers him to drive mine third party []
Alan-G Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Oh Cr*p Vicki. That is such hard lines. What can I say really. Dreadfully sorry for you both. Gutted for you both. Lesson learned is to put named drivers that will drive your car on the insurance policy. I make it a strict stipulation between me and Jen. I don't think adding each other as named drivers actually cost anything more. So sorry for you and Peter Vicki - it will work out ok in the end. I shouldn't really say this but, at least the bill is only to repair your car and not a bill for funeral costs. Take care you both. Alan, Jen and wee Hollie.
vicki Posted September 28, 2006 Author Posted September 28, 2006 Alan I can't believe it. I am a named driver on Peters policy, don't know what I was thinking not putting him on mine [8-)] It's true tho, life is more important than a car. It could have been a lot, lot worse. That doesn't bare thinking about [] Vicki []
david_taylor Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Vicki You can sue them through the county court. Good chance that you would get all that cash back eventually!
st3ph3n Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Looks painful Vicki. I'd definitely go see Citizens advice and see if they can offer you any help. It's free and it can't do any harm. Even see if the ambulance chasers can offer anything. I know they don't have the best rep, but it's a lot of money.
david_taylor Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 http://www.theclaimsconnection.co.uk/uninsured-drivers.html Have a look at this. Good advice. A guy in my work was hit 2 years ago by a uninsured driver and his A3 was wrote off. He was fully comp, so got his cash. He still sued the git, and although it took 2 years, he got his excess back, and £2500 compensation for injury and distress. Reckon its definately worth looking into! Dave
vicki Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Thanks Dave thats really helpful [Y] Had heard something about this. Peter reading it just now. Worth a try []
vicki Posted September 29, 2006 Author Posted September 29, 2006 Forgot to say, asked and didn't get my SIDC discount on parts [:'(]
david_taylor Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 No probs Vicki. Sorry to see a car identical to mine looking so damaged, specially in your circumstances!! Just hope that you can recoup some of the cash. Take it your getting a new engine? Hope Peter gets some cash for any injuries as well as your cash from getting it fixed. Dave
jcscoob Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Vicky, no luck kid[] At least everyone/thing is now on the mend [y][]
big den Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I understood that all insurance companies pay into a fund to cover claims against uninsured drivers? Could be the link/info already posted. I take it that your insurance won't even support you with legal cover? I appreciate that you say Peter wasn't a named driver on your ploicy & was only driving the car with 3rd party cover via his own policy but it is still technically a no fault accident and I would have thought this would be covered under the circumstances. As already suggested, visit Citizen's Advice or if you have Legal cover via your home insurance or employer ask them. Hope it all works out!! Den
redscoobydoo Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 soz to here that too vicki, thats gutting news. youve got to chase something up. That a shed load of money to fork out. I know its not he end of the world, and it could have been worse , but like Stephen says , get along to citizens advice and hopefully you might be entitled to something. Fingers crossed for ye both. charlie[]
craigwrx Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Sorry to hear all this Vicki, you must be feeling really low ...The accident was bad enough, then to find out your not covered on insurance is a major headache. Life really does serve up some bad sh*t for us all @ times [] ..Its hard at times i know, but keep smiling ! Craig
st3ph3n Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 And if all else fails - I'm sure something could be arranged involving bats and a large contingent of adrenaline fuelled subaru drivers.
chris_c201 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Sorry to hear your news Vicki, at least Peter is okay.... If you have the details of the other guys involved (via police) and they were charged i'm pretty sure you can do something through the insurance ombudsman, not quite sure of specifics...... Hope you get at least some of the costs back.......
lesley Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 Im totally gutted for you, glad you and peter are ok though, keep your chin up coz it can all be fixed xxx
