Tuning packages

Recommended Posts

The time has come to go for more power on my 05 WRX.

I am after a complete package such as Scooby clinic stage 1(http://www.scoobyclinic.com/frameset.htm) or Greenwood racing developments stage 1 (http://domain1046568.sites.fasthosts.com/t...ks_wrx_stg1.asp) but would rather get it done in Scotland somewhere.

I work on the South coast at the moment so would just drop into one of these places on the way back home. The only problem being they are miles away if anything goes wrong.

Opinions welcome, if anybody has recomendations........

Change your standard airfilter for a Green cotton one - costs c£40 , 5 minute job to fit . Available from : http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/ .

Get a turbo-back decat exhaust system - either buy it in bits , ie downpipe , centre pipe and backbox

or get one custom built by http://www.stainlessexhausts.com/ in Hillington or http://www.meercat-exhausts.com/home.htm in Kilbirnie .

Then get it remapped by http://andyforrestperformance.co.uk/index2.html in Port Seton .

This will be as good as , if not better than any of the 'stage 1' packages . It will save you a few quid and all  the companys are within easy reach of your home .

Hope that is of some help .

Good advice from this bearded man[:)]

WRX needs an Uppipe too as there's a CAT in it.

But do that + what ally-b says (maybe not the green filter, see what Andy F recommends) and you'll be laughing.

My plan is to finish the decatting, fit the prodrive IC hose and a better fuel pump then get it remapped. Maybe fitting a CAI too.

And that's an 05 WRX.

Sorry , I forgot about the cat in the uppipe [:$]  .  .  .  .  I've one of those old classics you see [:)]

If you are sticking with the standard airbox (which is fine for up to 350ish bhp), then the Green Cotton panel filter is the one to go for .

I'd recommend it as the first mod for anyone  with a standard scoob.

First issue of the (now defunct) Scoobymagazine tested a selection of panel filters and the Green Cotton came out tops .

Whats the difference with the prodrive IC hose to standard and does it make a difference? If so is it something that can be done to a Sti 7?

Hope that aint a silly question, just taking my first steps in scooby ownership!

Cheers

STI has an all alloy Y-pipe with a Silicon 90-degree hose on the end so its OK.

Reason to change the WRX Plastic pipe is-

1 - Better flow pattern with the Silicon one.

2 - Plastic one hardens up and weaken over time ( to many heating cycles) and is prone to splitting under higher boost, hence the Prodrive kit has a silicon pipe to take the higher boost. You  can't argue with the guys from Banbury!
