G.Mac Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Heres mine in a size I hope you can see cos been having some probs with photobucket making my images tiny Graeme
rapidcossie Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 why you lot continue to use dastek time after time even tho they consistantly give out unrealsitic and inaccurate power figs is beyond me?? you are just wasting money time after time. surely someone must have noticed on the day that the losses were WAY out??
wilky Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 Your quite right, However I dont think anyone said anything because they didnt want to look like excuses were being made or like "sour grapes".
rapidcossie Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 awright mate! hows tricks! question the operators all the time its the only way you can work out if they know what they are doing or NOT in this case... We all know any 4x4 will lose ALOT more than 30 bhp thru the transmission..
Russs Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Dude, you haven't got a scooby have you?! (pardon the pun! If anyone has concerns, give Gerry at Dastek a call. He will be more than happy to explain fully.
thefastone Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Rapidcossie: After Sunday when they went out of their way for OUR charidy, FOR FREE, they gave their time and equipment, and asked for nothing in return, personally, I'm not goint to Quible about a 30bhp loss.... I dont think that its right that Your should be having a go about this mate.... [:|]
Dastek Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Ahhh! Rapid Cossie the infinate wisdom. Please feel free to discuss the physics of transmission losses, seeing as you know so much about it. As you are an AVA guy, please remind me, what is it they quote for losses? (30 - 40 Bhp in 4th if I remeber correctly) As for the losses on the graphs that were posted up here, they were not the maximum losses, but the difference between maximum wheel power & maximum flywheel power & in the majority of cases in 3rd gear. Rather than shouting your mouth off every time my companies name is mentioned, why not step out from behind your keyboard & visit the place, & feel free to try & catch me out with what crap you have learned from the internet, maybe if you are receptive to learning, you will pick up something of real value! [^o)] I will post some stuff up I get my server access sorted. Cheers, Gerry
G.Mac Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 AVA suck dong, was there on my bike a sit was running lean, had two goes on the rollers and got charged 120 quid but only had about 1 hr on the rollers (60 quid an hour) did any changes and work myself and still got chjarged full price. unles your driving an old clapped out ford thers no point going to AVA (and this is coming from a guy whos brother had a 315bhp sierra xr4x4 and would not touch them with a bargepole (i wish I had listened to him!!) sorry rant over Graeme
Dastek Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 OK Server playing ball again, so here is a long winded infomercial [] I have copied the raw runs for Graemes car above, you will notice that the first image shows a peak loss at peak revs of about 47bhp But if you look at the loss at peak wheel power (below) you will see that it is only 32bhp (all will be explained when you read the rest of the bumf) Here's a few others from the day Feck knows what's happening to the resizing of this one below, but it is 33 bhp I've also included some screengrabs of other examples of differences in wheel power V's flywheel power, the first 3 being from our own Civic The next 2 the details are in the image Now comes my war & peace on dyno's (part one this week & the rest when I get a minute [8-|]) Try this for above Another thing, look at your 'Speed per 1000 rpm' number, the higher this is, generally the higher the losses (this is the speed in kmh per 1000rpm in the gear used to do the test - which for most was 3rd) Enjoy [] Cheers, Gerry
col666 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 [] And the prize for the BIGGEST EVER POST goes to Dastek[]
FastScooby Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Here's mine from saturday a bit dissapointed in the results as it was roaded a few months back a bit higher than these figures
wilky Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Well, Thats puts a few theories to bed. Thanks Gerry that was great reading. I Fully understand what was going on now. Your a credit to your profession, and an asset to your nation. Well done. Callum W
Gumball Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 well Gerrys post kinda put a stop to any doubt over their professionalism and results, if anyone sensible ever did have any doubts over them to begin with of course? Dastek figures seem to be consistent and hence the reason why the whole of central scotlands SIDC population have them as their chosen company to use. Im sure AVA and star are very similar and people should give credit to the potential multi thousand, million pound equipment that is being used to produce the figures for us all. There will be small variations between each place no doubt but overall im sure they are all much the same. The service you get at dastek from Gerry and Paul is second to none without a blue butchers coat in sight like another place i know. Not to say that their figures are down or up just that the guy looks like a scientist from one of the bond movies. "do you want a power run or thrown in the shark tank sir?" keep in touch with yourself late at night. out
higgy Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Hello to you all I have had my car on dyno's at both Star and Dastek and on this ocasion my power and tourqu was verry close . figs to follow : Dastek..361 bhp ............................... Star 368.5 bhp 334.5 lbf.ft ................................ 333 lbf.ft I think that the figures do the talking and we all know how mutch the wether has to do with it to. Higgy Ps Can we all just play nicely again PLEASE
