gogsie
Has anyone installed or know anyone esle who has installed an anti-surge tank as per TSL link or some other manufacturer. http://www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk/newsite/pr...&detail=191 Just wondering if it's good/easy to fit/worth the money? Or should I just slow down at the hairpins? Link to comment
johns
STi make a similar (genuine Subaru) part, but it's likely to be a few pennies more. In theory, you could make one up yourself with some fuel resistant rubber sheets and some steel plates. It simply keeps some fuel around the suction area on the base of the fuel pump for a few seconds under heavy cornering. Just a basic baffle type arrangement. Link to comment
wilky
Being a cheapskate, and having had surge issues in the past I looked into all the solutions, from fabricating a surge area from the bottom of a 5litre plastic container to buggering about riviting bits of aluminium together. as you take a righthand hairpin with 1/4 of a tank thats when you get fuel starvation, so the idea is the form a wall that the fuel will swish off and come back keeping go go juice in the area of the pump intake long enough to get back on an even keel for the fuel to return. Expensive solution - tank pump moves fuel to a swirl pot- then another pump or pumps take the fuel from the swirl pot to the fuel rails. when you get starvation, the swirl pot hold enough to see you over that period. Less expensive solution- TSL surge shield or similar to form the "wall" Even less expensive solution - Get a look at the above then copy it. Wilkys solution- 7 inches of fuel line, extending the return outlet down to the bag filter at the intake of the fuel pump meaning returned fuel is poured directly where you need it, and a £25 jerrycan to ensure I never get below 1/4 of a tank. I wont be trying to win le mans or the WRC so why mince about buying all the whistles and bells that will sit redundant apart from a couple of times a year? I saw the fuel return idea on 22b. A great idea. Callum Link to comment
JohnSt
I used to get surge on a whisker over half a tank, you really need to try harder Callum [] Link to comment
gogsie
Yeah I reckon you weren't trying hard enough Callum as I also get it just above half tank. Need to do something as I hate it when it cuts out for that split second. The idea of the extended return hose sounds good, but might just go for the TSL deal. [] I like an easy life! Link to comment
euan_r
fit about extending the depth o the bag wee a bit oh pipe then. just a farmers solution [] but swirl pot sounds the way to go Link to comment

(Wilky walks off, take his car off its trailer and goes off to a private road to try harder) Link to comment
