bigdavie Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Quote You've been bumped , lol [] lmfao !!! feck dont say that to the boy he'll commit hari karri !!!
steve_nairn_sti Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Wouldn't the STI ype RA have STI seats? The RA (In my understanding) was all about saving weight hence no leccy windows, air con etc as standard (However you are correct in saying they cvome in many guises). It baffles me though that your RA has the standard interior if it's an STI. I can't imagine the STI seats are any heavier than the standard items and I doubt anyone would "choose" to have non-sti seats in an STI. Just throwing my opinions into the melting pot. I'm not writing this post to have a go at you and I don't know anything about you so please don't take this as a personal attack on you (No need for any aggressive replies either please). I would just be a little bit more open when people are trying to give you information. They're a knowledgeable lot on here! Not saying who is right or wrong but everyone has an opinion.....
oz *sti* Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 I would have thought it would have came with STI seats as well !!! strange but hay I could be wrong. As long as you enjoy the car then that's the main thing Rab.
iain_ogston Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinycontent/rewrite/tc_28.html Useful site for transmission codes giving gear and drive ratio charts. Rab is right, pre production line RAs are individual. DCCD was a post production fit, and if the owner didn't want one, or there wasn't a switch to hand it might not have been fitted. Mine has switches for all the mirror electrics etc., bu no wires connected to them, so sometimes they didn't even bother with blanking plates. You notice funny things like some cars have pillar aerials, some have rear aerials, some have NO aerial lol and so on.

Not saying who is right or wrong but everyone has an opinion..... i did apologise for barking ![:'(] and i am as open as you'll find ! but all i am saying is compare the early 94/94 cars when these were made and no two are the same and i havent seen any of them with sti embroidered seats. but these are different to what i have seen in a wrx also! the base comes up more at the sides. i seen about twenty cars at the docks, all wrx's and nothing like this car in any way [:^)]apart from a 95 sti ra which also didnt have the dccd switch(or i couldnt see it anyway !) i would like to see another up close to compare it now that there is doubts about its authenticity ! if anyone can give the absolute 100% gaurenteed spec list to these cars then i will do a tick list to clear it all up ! i'll put up what i see on the car and we can take it from there.
rabskyline Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 heres a start. the engine code is ej20dw2hj (from what i can see the wrx is dw1 and the sti is dw2) the gearbox/diff code is close ratio type b,ra (open front diff).sti brace, manual mirrors,windows,l/w bonnet/boot,water spray, piaa system, twin pot fron brakes, alloy wishbones. now if there is any other guaranteed spec then let me know and i'll check to see ! i would like to know one way or another too !
drb5 Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Apart from the STI front strut brace, everything else mentioned were all fitted to my old RA. I see what your saying about the code, but i seriously doubt it's an STI with WRX interior. Even the door cards are WRX. Don't get me wrong though, i'm open to being proven wrong(still waiting to be proven wrong about somethings mind you[]), as every now and then, something comes up that is completely new knowledge and turns out to be true.
the squiggle Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 First production spec STI RA was in 1995 when the full STI production run were RA varients. Every STI RA has a roof ventilator. If you bring the car up i will dig out the manuals and we can decipher what she has got or not got. U8 is the ecu fitted to a 94 WRX, 7K is the ecu fitted to the STI RA. Bonus of the WRX RA is it has the sought after Closed Deck Block and TD05 turbo as std.
rabskyline Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 davie, i dont know that its highly modded mate as i see a fmic, fuel cut defencer, adjustable shocks+ greddy gauges but i'm unsure about any more there is as i dont know if the ecu is std or not ! it should be a bitty quicker anyway just with these little mods eh ?
rabskyline Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 this is a good start but what about the engine code ?? ej2ogdw2hj ?? the wrx ra on the list is dw1 hj but the sti's were dw2 ?? this is a bit of everything i think !
rabskyline Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 found this in japautomotive history ! Car History Thursday, 15 June 2006 THE SUBARU IMPREZA went on sale in November 1992,powered by a boxer engine,& with the option of 4 wheel drive on certain models. It was also availble as an estate. For the WRX,there was the Boxer Turbo from the Legacy RS & GT,abbeit slightly modified.Designated th EJ20.this was an all-alloy flat four with a 1994cc capacity. It featured twin camshafts,fuel-injection with a Mitsubishi TD04H Turbo Charger, intercooler & a 8.5:1 compression ratio. It developed 240 Bhp @ 6000rpm,along with 224lbft of torque. Although front wheel drive was the starting point for the Impreza layout,Subaru's 4WD expertise was a big selling point. There was a bevel gear centre differential with a viscus coupling. This full-time 4WD system normally split torque 50:50,but the viscus coupling compensated as road conditions changed, sending power to the wheels with the most traction. The rear differential featured a limited-slip device. The WRx came with much harder suspension, with special springs * bushes. The shock absorbers incorporated a liner control valve. The Type RA version featured further uprated, stronger components-the equivalent level to those used on the rally circuit. In May 1994 a STi model was launched(Subaru Tecnica Industries).A number of performance modifications were crried out,A highly tuned Blueprint engine with forged piston & pins, polished intake ports,a remapped ECU,increased Turbo boost,an uprated intercooler with water spray & a Fujitsubo Exhaust System. This produced 250 Bhp @6500 rpm & 227 lbft of torque @ 3500 rpm0-60 was reached in 5.6 seconds. The Sports Wagan hit 0-60 in 6.1 seconds.
Kenny.S Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 There should be a small silvery coloured sticker on the drivers door pillar, should say something like wrx-ra sti. My car had this but i had to remove it when the car was painted. I'm offshore just now but when i get home i could post up one of the pictures i took of it before it was removed, think i still have the sticker but it wont stick back on. Kenny
rabskyline Posted July 23, 2006 Author Posted July 23, 2006 there is a sticker in silver but has jap writing and j3 on it . anyway it doesnt really matter anymore until i get it up to grant when its road reg'd etc. and he can check it all out. so apart from the dubiaty, its a nice drivin' scooby ! result !
