paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Just about had enough of owning a Scoob !Finally after waiting ages for the warranty to pay up for a MAF,I've fitted it reset the ECU and now have another fault code blinking.Code 32 Heated oxygen sensor (I take it thats the lambda sensor) [:@] This with the gearbox problems i had before has really taken a shine off owning a Scoob.Don't get me wrong Ive been around performance motors since ive been driving and know they can be a hassle at times but just how often its happening in a short period of time is doing my box in ! [:'(] I've waited and waited to finally give the motor a good run now the new MAF is fitted and it still misses and splutters when trying to give her a bit of a blast. To say I'm disappointed is an understatment. You do your best to maintain them to the best condition, using optimax, octane booster, decent leads, full service etc etc and all you get is what feels like a kick in the teeth !! Beginning to wonder if I should have gone for an EVO like the wife said.
colin_ross Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Stick with it Scotty. I'm afraid to say that when a maf fails it more than often takes the lamda sensor with it. When the car is running lean it cooks it. Be thankful it didn't take the rest of the engine with it.
mckelvr Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 naaaaa stick with the scoob mate the only problem ive had with mine was the air flow meter luckily it was dynod and fixed in time now its fine ....... not like my gtir though, its a serious nightmare every time i take it out something breaks or falls off there,s not an original bit of it left .....good luck grant
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Brain damage mate, the minute I found out the MAF was done I've driven it like a sunday driver. What will a Lamba sensor cost me and would that cause the miss n splutters ? I can see the motor going shortly for some thing else if it doesn't start behaving!
Gumball Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 remember parts can be picked up second hand and dont have to always be the top kit all the time. Replace things that arent working then upgrade them to new or better when you get the chance. Itll all work out for you im sure.
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Thats what I have been doing but seems every time I get a bit of cash to do a wee bit of playing with the motor it gets sucked up buy replacing a knackered part. [] Still I start my new job in August which should put some more pennies into the Fun jar.
Gumball Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 your spending all the cash just now but once you get it resolved a tip top you will have cash for mods or something to make it better rather than just running.
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Thats EXACTLY how I'm hoping it all turns out ! I love the way the car makes me smile to myself when i get the chance to put the foot down but its been some time now since ive had that feeling cause I just don't want to cain it when its not 100%.
derek_robertson Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Stick with it kid, you'll get her sorted in the end & you'll appreciate it even more. []
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Its like being married to two women ! costs a fortune ,busts your b*lls and only if your very lucky you'll get some fun !
johnnyr6 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I know how you feel m8, i havn't been able to use mine in anger for months. Still havn't tracked the prob down, new diff, wheelbearings and looks like a box rebuild maybe on the cards. Think it's evo time.
johnnyr6 Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm getting a whine and clunking from the rear, was certain it was the diff so fitted another, still not right so changed the wheelbearing, still not right so checking the shafts and if thats ok then its either the prop or the box. Pain in the a#se. Oh ,i'm also getting fuel cut but thats my fault and getting sorted.
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 If its your prop let me know,i've got an almost brand new one sitting in the garage that could be sold for a few quid !
oz *sti* Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Hope you get it all sorted mate. I know what you mean by not having any fun, I've driven mine like a sunday driver for the last couple of weeks as I'm getting mine mapped by Andy on the 27th July as its now a full decat, so when I do start it up now and drive it around the block to keep it ticking over can not / or don't want to risk putting the car into boost so it's slow sunday driving [] not for long, fingers crossed the mapping goes to plan. Stay with it mate it will be worth it - and that flat four sound track is to die for []
dougster Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I have an O2 sensor sitting doing nowt. If you need it I'll check compatibility/
paul_honthy Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Cheers mate, that would be terrific ! To make matters worse the warranty company say they don't cover it so no chance of getting one through them. Just hope I can have the car running 100% to enjoy it while the weathers good. Here's hoping .
