euan_r Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 sorry was going to come out with someting about what aol stands for but will leave it for others.
vicki Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I used to get that on the opening pages of the site, but the forum was ok. Got a bigger monitor and problem solved (for me anyway)

Me too, but I hit the back button and never posted! If you REALLY must use AOL. Minimise the program one connected, then open up MSIE or Firefox if you have it. Your browsing experience will be more enjoyable. [] John

ANDYJDMSTI Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 I had the same problem when the site was updated. My solution was to go to the "view" tab at the top of the screen, select "text size" and increase it until you are happy and can read properly.
scoobykev Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 i went into the control panel in user options and selected the larger font
thewelsho Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 "not being computer savvy at all, what's the problem with aol, thats who i use??" Read this for starters. Note the last sentence in particular: "it has never overcome the stigma of being the online service 'for people who don't know any better'" [:$].
jcscoob Posted June 28, 2006 Posted June 28, 2006 Quote i went into the control panel in user options and selected the larger font Me 2[y] much better, iv been squintin like an idiot !
andy Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Quote sorry was going to come out with someting about what aol stands for but will leave it for others. I'll bite! In the early Interweb days it stood for "A**holes OnLine".At that time AOL was purely Americans and jeez they were dumb... If you can, ditch it for a decent ISP that doesn't install all sorts of unwanted crap on your PC and as somebody else said, if you can't then minimize their junk once connected and use a decent browser like Firefox or Opera.
rabskyline Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 HOW DO YOU DO IT THROUGH THE CONTROL PANEL ??? IVE GOT XP !

[] Now thats clever[] just typed firefox into my AOL search thingy(which i'm very happy with), and it's showing a free download, if i do this surely it's just more cr*p on my pc and will it not make it slower if its going through aol then firefox[*-)]

Firefox will be accessing the Interweb directly so will most definitely not make you run any slower than at present. If anything, it will be faster.
Carl Davey Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 I'm a devoted IE user but have to admit Firefox is better, it's just i can't be bothered spending the time getting used to it. [:$]
st3ph3n Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Firefox is a browser, like Internet Explorer and the AOL customised browser. It's very good. andywrx - A good browser like Firefox or Opera? I'll give you firefox certainly, and Opera on mobile platforms, but Opera on the PC is just plain rubbish. Even IE is better.
