I used to get that on the opening pages of the site, but the forum was ok.

sorry was going to come out with someting about what aol stands for but will leave it for others.

LOL! Me too, but I hit the back button and never posted!

If you REALLY must use AOL. Minimise the program one connected, then open up MSIE or Firefox if you have it. Your browsing experience will be more enjoyable. [:)]

not being computer savvy at all, what's the problem with aol, thats who i use??

I had the same problem when the site was updated. My solution was to go to the "view" tab at the top of the screen, select "text size" and increase it until you are happy and can read properly.

Read this for starters.  Note the last sentence in particular: "it has never overcome the stigma of being the online service 'for people who don't know any better'" [:$].

I'll bite! In the early Interweb days it stood for "A**holes OnLine".At that time AOL was purely Americans and jeez they were dumb...

If you can, ditch it for a decent ISP that doesn't install all sorts of unwanted crap on your PC and as somebody else said, if you can't then minimize their junk once connected and use a decent browser like Firefox or Opera.

Or just hit the Ctrl key and roll the mouse wheel backwards and forwards until you're happy. [:)]

just typed firefox into my AOL search thingy(which i'm very happy with), and it's showing a free download, if i do this surely it's just more cr*p on my pc and will it not make it slower if its going through aol then firefox[*-)]

It's not cr*p - it's a decent browser that won't infect you with spyware at every turn and actually works! Firefox will be accessing the Interweb directly so will most definitely not make you run any slower than at present. If anything, it will be faster.

Firefox is a browser, like Internet Explorer and the AOL customised browser. It's very good.

andywrx - A good browser like Firefox or Opera? I'll give you firefox certainly, and Opera on mobile platforms, but Opera on the PC is just plain rubbish. Even IE is better.
