Adam Kindness Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Ross also does big prints.... he's done one for us, and its amazing!
Ali Mowat Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Quote Hey Ali M Saw you at Stracathro towing the Golf in your wagon and wondered where you were off to. We were heading to Aberdeen in the blobeye WRX. 10 mins later I saw Foz towing the S2000. Wagons tow very well don't they? Hey Zeolite, yeah they tow pretty well, although you have to stop at about every bloody petrol station on the way!!! We stopped in Dundee for fuel and on the way out I decided to go back to Halfords for a fire extinguisher, I then realised we had left tyhe filler cap for the golf at the pump and had to go all the way back! Thought we were going to be running late so I got a bit of a move on and ended up passing Foz with the S2000 at a fair pace, I gave him a toot as we went past. Didnt see the S2000 on track though? What colour was your WRX, I think I saw a couple on the way down?
Adam Kindness Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 i saw him on for two laps..... he had tyre probs, and ended up heading home early
Big Daz Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 Quote Quote Quote Its a bog standard 113k mile 1.9 GTi seemed to have the stright line edge over scoobylav and big daz's 1.9.... only reason i think is we have more miles, so its all nice and loose Thats true when we were running "without assistance" you certainly had the edge. We have a few suspicions as to why that is which we will sort for the next one [] (fingers crossed) We defo need to sort the suspension though !! What are the plans then? I think with a bit of suspension mods it'll be quicker round the corners than ours.... Think we'll be opting for a 1.6 box soon as our clutch is not the best LOL, needs something sorted on the front psgr side (new hub, or lower arm).... and possibly new brake pads after the next one. Running fast road pads up front on std discs, and uprated pads and discs on the back.... with the bias a wee bit too much on the rear i think I think that could be part of the top speed issue with us, We are already running a 1.6 box as far as I am aware. Plans for stage 2 are leda 280 lb springs with new shocks, lower strut brace, quickshift, rear beam conversion to discs, custom exhaust with 4 branch manifold, fit the new seats (1/2 the weight of current ones), new air filter then see what happens [] Oh, Some bling Nos bits and new graphics will be happening too soon Worst thing is, most of the bits have been sitting in the garage for months, just not had the time to fit them. Daz btw - I have a set of EBC discs for a 1.9 which dont fit ours if you are interested []
Adam Kindness Posted June 12, 2006 Posted June 12, 2006 front? How much are you after, and why dont they fit yours? No idea what poundage our front springs are!? Not too stiff. How does you car handle? Understeery, or liftoff/oversteer? Give the solid rear beam mounts a try when swapping beams.... (under 50quid for a set)
Adam Kindness Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 There was some cheap used bilstein shocks on ebay last week i think.... Whats your total spend on yours now? Including the car? I think we must be up to about 1300 now :/
Fee Posted June 13, 2006 Posted June 13, 2006 £400! ...I think its closer to the £1,500 mark the latest additions have been the most expensive
Adam Kindness Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 ach.... we have a firm belief we will need to reshell ours at some point as its not the best. Possibly just go for the newest 3dr base model we can find in a straight, rot free shape. We've had the 205 for just over a year now.... done all the work over the winter really, started stripping it late last summer. 'Mon the 205 team
andrew_lally Posted June 14, 2006 Posted June 14, 2006 we got a set of g-max front hocks and springs...and another set of grooved and drilled discs sitting off 1.9 gti....i think!!! what the difference between the 1.6 and 1.9 hub assemblies?? regards andy
