mctwistuk Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 Was bored this afternoon so painted the front brake calipers. I opted for the blue colour to set off the silver of the car.
mctwistuk Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 suggestions please on what colour to paint the words subaru on them
oz *sti* Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I would say go with the same colour as the car that way it all blends in - but not sure if that would go with the caliper colour?
stu_bousie Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Looks good bud mine are red and done by previous owner but what about these brake Decals
TheTerminator Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Looks good bud mine are red and done by previous owner but what about these brake Decals did you read the small print??? shocking!! ( These are not caliper covers, which we do not recommend. They fit poorly as well as trapping excess heat and corrosive brake dust. This can lead to warping the brake discs and damging the caliper housing. Our decals, together with caliper paint, do not interfere with the caliper operation and allow the heat generated to be dissipated, as the factory intended )
mctwistuk Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 they sound ok. they are just saying that there ones are ok to use as they dissipate the heat. might give them a try
oobster Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 They stickers are only good for your rear calipers chris - the front ones the text will be 'raised' and you'll have to paint the lettering by hand. I painted mine about 2/3 weeks ago (red) and bought some white paint to do the lettering, but i can't be ersed now!
mctwistuk Posted June 3, 2006 Author Posted June 3, 2006 guess it will be a steady hand and an very small brush then and a tin of silver paint. i better not have a beeer for a few days then.
oz *sti* Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 when i touched up the painted the word subaru, I just used a thin spong and just dabed it on, that way the word subaru will get the paint and the rest will remain un-touched, we it worked for me prob a lot easier than a brush imho. []
lock stock Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 I did my old wagons brake calipers last year,I bought some high temp white paint & a small sponge roller to apply, really easy and very effective. Rob. P.S. Really happy to have a set of gold brembos as standard now though !!!!
dougster Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 You cold also pack the caliper with blue tack and leave the raised lettering open, then use a roller. I hand painted mine which looked OK...........in the dark,................. from a distance!![]
mctwistuk Posted June 4, 2006 Author Posted June 4, 2006 cheers dougster how was the fishing yesterday? you catch much? was Ken on top form?
dougster Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 It was a great day but didn't catch anything 'till I went to my own club water later last night. Ken was INDEED in top form and he has a very good picture of an overly excited Dougster at Loch Ba!!!!!![]
