jimmyGforce Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Hi. I'm needing 4 new shocks for my P1. 3 are goosed. Was wanting to keep standard spec as i heard the STI shocks on the car were good. Prodrive spec i also heard? Anyway was just quoted £1100 from a main dealer.not sure if that even included VAT as i just hung up shortly after the price [] So anyone got advice on shocks on their P1? Aftermarket stuff with same sort of spec? ie not harder? Just want handling to be as it was so not needing fully adjustable doo-das. cheers
drb5 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 P1 are supposed to be different, from their STi brothers. Same as WRX's are harder than UK turbo's etc. At the moment, there's a guy selling a secondhand set on SNET. £500 IIRC. Or you could consider the KYB group buy on there too. They are adjustable, but not like coilovers. Better movement, yet still got a stiffness, that wouldn't be far off original P1 stuff.
P1 NUT Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 A few of the guys on P1woc.co.uk are going for tein superstreet suspension but they are fully adjustable. Either that or the powerstation ast kit gets loads of rave reviews.
Hepy Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Whats the symptoms of fecked shocks. I'm getting some strange noises on my P1 that I think is coming from the suspension. Ride and handling seems to be fine though.
paulc555 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Jimmy (sorry Brian) I can certainly recommend the Teins, I got the basic damper set fitted a few weeks back and it transformed the handling.....I did have sti shocks with eibach springs and the Tein kit came out cheaper for all 4 than just the 2 OE shocks from Subaru.... Paul
jimmyGforce Posted May 29, 2006 Author Posted May 29, 2006 Hepy, with mine the ride and handling feel ok. I get the odd clunk from the back, but the other day i had 2 folk in the back and the extra weight was making it clunk loudly over every bump . Jacked the car up and tried moving each individual wheel in and out, like you would check wheel bearings.I was able to move the wheel slightly in/out. I saw there was play in the shock where the shaft slides up/down. Could feel it moving with ma thumb when moving wheel. Brian

jimmyGforce Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Cheers folks. Think i'll order some Tein superstreet. Fully adjustables. Looked at some of the official dealers and the prices are even cheaper than on the tein site, delivered. []

jimmyGforce Posted May 30, 2006 Author Posted May 30, 2006 Mapping was good. cars running well.................. I touch goats!
ozzy Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 The OE P1 suspension is KYB struts and Eibach dampers. The springs are Prodrive rates, but no idea if the KYB's are any different than the ones you can pickup direct. Stefan
