TSL 333 Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Finally got all my wheels back from the powder coaters (P&J Powder Coating; Thornliebank; Glasgow - 0141 620 1652) with 2 new Toyos Proxies T1R's (£98ish from www.mytyres.com.) What do you think? I had previosuly considered them to be too dark but have convinced myself I now like them. At £28 cash per corner (excluding removal and re-fitting/ valve balance of wheel at £12.50 per corner at Machonechies, I can hardly complain!!!) In the light: Sun going down and after a good thrashing throwing off some brake dust: Sun disappearing: Sun nearly gone: Ready for a good clean and polish now!!!
Dean Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 The wheels look spot on mate [H] And at that price you cant complain either.

TSL 333 Posted May 12, 2006 Author Posted May 12, 2006 looks good!! what colour were they before?? Gold before, albeit much brighter: Here is a picture taken half way through the operation, the front ones done and the rear ones pending powder coating: The old finish was begining to bubble/ flake and so I just bit the bullet and got them done as I needed 2 new tyres anyway so it seemed the best time. I wonder how long till I kerb them................
micra_wrc Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 daft female question but how come they look darker after getting them powder coated? thought getting them powder coated would brighten them up? [:|] [:^)] imy
ANDYJDMSTI Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 daft female question but how come they look darker after getting them powder coated? thought getting them powder coated would brighten them up? [:|] [:^)] imy You can get them done whatever colour you choose. on my old classic i had my vortex's changed from silver to BMW M3 greyish black with polished rim.
dan_jess Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Depends on the colour used after they have been re-done. Might be a darker shade of gold. Also i think it depends on the laquer aswell, u can get laquers with speckle or somthing like that in them to brighten the wheels up []
thewelsho Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Wheels look great! I get my new Sub tomoz with silver wheels, pfff. Dealer wanted another grand to upgrade the colour! No thanks. He suggested powder coating, so I might do that in time. J
