mckelvr Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 ok i need a fancy ecu or a piggyback progamable ecu thingy for my sti type ra classic... some people say andy f and some people say dastek ive spoken to both and both seem very helpful any tips guys ?
G.Mac Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 I had Andy map my car and am very hapy to say the least. Andy does all his mapping on the road which IMHO is best as it recreates actual conditions the car will encounter rather than the rollers. Graeme
rapidcossie Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 eh thats a tough one...... NOT take your car to someone who has proven his car and skills by driving at 210 pmh or take it to a mob that specialise in giving civics over inflated power curves?? you choose
andrew_lally Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 rollers killed my gearbox......granted it was probably on its way out.......but live mapping will always sort your car out!!! lets face it...how often do you drive your car to 7000rpm in third in your garage with the hairdryer on it for cooling hahahah andy will sort your motor out the proper way.....live mapping in the real world on a real road!!!! like the cossie dude says......andy f ..proven tuner with proven skills....and the cossie boys know a thing or two about tuning!!! regards andy
higgy Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 there is only one answer to that question. Mr Forrest it would be. Higgy
Russs Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Ask Andy if he would map cars on the rollers if he had some. I dare you...........[]
jcscoob Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I reckon my car's quite nippy, Andy made it that way [] lol, good coment [y]
fai17 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I reckon my car's quite nippy, Andy made it that way [] It sure was good at Knockhill yesterday
Gumball Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 make use of the two of them a nice remap by uncle andrew followed by some power runs and results at Gerrys place.
wilky Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Andy Forrest or Dastek? Thats like asking NASA or Quickfit? lol.
mckelvr Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 ok guys i think ive got my answer thanks for all the advice grant
frank c Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Andy Forrest or Dastek? Thats like asking NASA or Quickfit? lol. FPMSL.....[] Frank
rapidcossie Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 if i had a scooby and had to chose from all the tuners in the UK.... i would go to andy... his car has proven the quickest in all areas, doesnt charge the earth and is not too far away so it would seem silly not to.
andrew_forrest Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Thanks for the support guys. To be fair, I have already answered this question in an email and actually recommended Dastek. For a stage 1 tune on a standard-ish car the Unichip offers better value for money than I can with the Apexi. Where the Apexi Power FC scores is if you are embarking on a tuning programme over an extended period and may require a number of mapping sessions as you progress. Also the resale value may be something to consider. Gerry at Dastek knows his stuff and it is a first class set up they have there. Just not sure if Gerry still does much of the regular tuning work however ? The kit is only as good as the operator so make sure you ask for Gerry !! cheers Andy
shocker13 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 RAPIDCOSSIE - over inflated civic power curves dont think so, my nos powered civic made same graphs give or take a few bhp on dasteks rollers and also ava rollers so they cant be over inflateing there graphs
