spluff Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 I have a MY00 UK impreza turbo and i hit 140 mph but when i did the CHECK ENGINE light came on, i s**t myself and immediately let off the throttle but as i did the light went off and hasn't been on since. The car is also running fine, any ideas would be much appreciated??
colin_ross Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Is the car still standard? If you still have a top mounted intercooler they have been known to cause problems at high speeds. The air that is normally forced through the scoop gets blasted over it instead and you can suffer with high charge temp's causing det. Don't know if this can cause a flash of the CEL on a standard ecu but certainly can on the Apexi PFC ecu.
dougster Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Get it checked to see if any codes flash up. Can anyone confirm that DIY code check with black jumpers is the same on MY00s?
spluff Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 aye the car is still standard, but want to modify it asap! What are a good list of mods that'll see me close to 300 BHP?
james_mowbray Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Its just as well it was an engine check and not a blue light..[]
jcscoob Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Glad it was at the proving ground, you shouldnt have any trouble out on the road !![] []
scooby222 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 ive had the same thing happen twice on my 05 sti, garage had a look at it and said it was dirt going through the waste gate. great things test tracks arent they[]
spluff Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 what are you doing driving at 140mph anyhow are you not one for 'givin it ping?'
the squiggle Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 what are you doing driving at 140mph anyhow are you not one for 'givin it ping?' All for giving it ping but admiting to it on a public website is not the best idea. The polis have been known to read this forum That is why all speed referneces also have "Proving ground" or "test track" contained in the post Grant
col666 Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 140MPH[] Pic below taken on a private test track last summer!
