irish al Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 For peace and harmony in scottishscoobies wtf can we not keep the existing sections and have the main forum divided into an additional two sections: 1) Events 2) For Sale & Wanted 3) Section to discuss Subaru Impreza Cars, Technical Issues, Modifying etc 4) Daily Life Issues and General Crap After all I believe this "copy and paste" info from the home page is what SIDC should be about ??? Welcome to the SIDC The aims of the club are: to create a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences of Subaru Impreza vehicles; to improve the buying power of individual SIDC members; to ensure that Subaru Impreza servicing and vehicle maintenance standards continually improve; to encourage the development and manufacture of after sales productsby the establishment of a market for Subaru Impreza parts andaccessories; and to organise social events for Subaru Impreza owners and theirfamilies and to encourage the improvement of members' driving abilities.
phil Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Remember we do have other forums outside Scottish Ones! However alwasy willing to listen and if there is a requirement for a further sub forum in Scottish Scoobies then we can add What are the thoughts of everybody else
wrxmania Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Maybe the time for a "Scottish Muppets" area is looming []
G.T. Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 yeah id agree have a separate section for posting bullshit
irish al Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Quote Remember we do have other forums outside Scottish Ones! However alwasy willing to listen and if there is a requirement for a further sub forum in Scottish Scoobies then we can add What are the thoughts of everybody else I appreciate this but SS covers all of scotland with a lot of members. It takes enough effort to sort through all of SS posts without having to read through all the posts england members put up as well.
oobster Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 The 'cluttering' of the main scottish scoobies section with off-topic threads does not bother me in the slightest, but i do admit that something similar to the NSR section of ScoobyNet might be a good idea in here, and hopefully might quieten-down the tiff's that seem to occur fairly regularly.
jcscoob Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Scotish muppets sounds like a plan, dont think you would strugle to get users []
oobster Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Muppets is a bit strong - the type of stuff posted in the 'other place' is complete and utter tosh compared to whats on here. All we have is stuff that is off-topic, hence the requirement for a Non-Scooby-Related section. All IMHO of course.
dave_morgan Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Personally I think the current divisions are fine. - The "FOR SALE/WANTED" have been split out for obvious reasons - not everyone wants to read this (well we all want to, but can't always afford to !!! [] ) - Events are split out so they're easy to spot. And then generally the things in Scottish Scoobies, are things Scottish related (in some way). Perhaps sometimes the scottish link is the fact it's being posted by someone in Scotland, but that's good enough for me! It's not that hard to filter through I don't think. If you want technical advice, use the main technical section. If you want local technical advice, use the SS section. I think the risk is that we end up with too many forums and SS becomes very fragmented. I personally think the mixture of local issues and banter works pretty well (with a few exceptions!), but perhaps that's just me. A Scottish Muppets section might be a good plan however, along with a Scottish Virtual Boxing Ring section !!!! [] All said without prejudice and is obviously my personal opinion only! [] Dave
sharon_mccall Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 A Scottish Muppets section might be a good plan however, along with a Scottish Virtual Boxing Ring section !!!! LOL............a nice bit of light hearted humour is soooooooooo nice tonight. []
4Hero Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I think as long as off topic subjects titles begin with O/T then it's fairly easy to distinguish between.
irish al Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 Dont get me wrong G.T., I dont mean section four to be used for bullshit as posts containing such crap should be deleted, could just to be used as the title suggests "Daily Life Issues and General Crap". As funny as it would be I am sure it will never get called this and probably oobsters title "Non Scooby Related" would be a better choice to keep people at ease.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Like Phil says ....it is not just scottish scoobies here so why should we get preferential treatment. We have already been given what i see as a fair chunk of the SIDC. As for the bickering/ digs being moved to a seperate "muppets" area...........go to SNET and see that those areas do naff all for the digs etc that go on i.e they still happen on most of the sections I am happy with what we have, if people don't know when to zip their fat yaps and bite their tongues then they have to accept what comes to them []
irish al Posted February 27, 2006 Author Posted February 27, 2006 I am happy with whats here too, it is just a suggestion to try solve some of the problems that keep making people leave and others unhappy.

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Quote Maybe the time for a "Scottish Muppets" area is looming [] YES PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been saying this for ages - way too much crap to sift through these days
ScoobyAndy Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I personally dont see whats wrong. Why should we get special treatment.. Oh because were greedy and want another area to talk crap in. Its not hard hunting through the posts, anything thats usually worth keeping at the top is usually kept near the top, any other stuff just falls down. As Neil said as long as other posts start with O/T whats the fuss. Put your handbags away ladies []

wilky Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 So who are we refering to as muppets? The instigators of " Just going to the shops for a loaf of bread" threads, or "Tell us about your favourite banjo.." Threads??? Or the people who have arguements? Just because people argue doesnt mean they will post in a muppets section, if I have an axe to grind or someone takes offence to me having a laugh I wont be going there, Ill face the problem head on. Your never going to get rid of the trash threads or the post count carpet bombers and I will never stop facing up to what I think is right, the same as I wouldnt expect anyone else to. Someone is outrageous to me they get the same back. Stop trying to sit on your clouds and act holyer than thou. You make me sick.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 All I'm saying is that a lot of the old skool just don't post anymore ..........we must ask ourselves why !? People who have less time to surf these forums simply cannot be bothered sifting through lame threads. It is a simple as that..........No fingers pointed, no rants, just a statement of fact. The arguments are another aside and will never cease in this place......conflict is a fact if life. Some forums have less than others.......No point on wasting any energy and that one. So in summary a NSR section would a) encourage more people who have LESS time on their hands to visit this place and improve their perception of this Scottish section ( which could be better tbh) let those who enjoy NSR stuff blissfuly post without bothering anyone. Phil can only set up a finite amount of sections though so I doubt this will happen. We live in hope. There is a marked difference between the odd OT post and keyboard diarhhea. CGS
Gumball Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 strange and coincidental as it seems, i agree with Wilky. Why do people need to start posting threads about Muppets sections and areas to talk plop in just cos people have a ruck or a go online? WHich leads me onto the next area of question...who is it thats being called a muppet here? This started after one or two of us asked "whats happening ????" on a thread, ANOTHER thread, or was it ANOTHER about nonsense and got shot down in flames because we had crossed the line and didnt adhere to the system where we are to accept that a thread should be started everytime someone brushes their teeth. fair play the person in question........ It is good when someone succeeds and gets what they want. All i and Callum were saying is- FFS do we need to re-address is over and over??? This isnt the rubytthescooby.co.uk forum and i for one (being honest) cant stand turning on this PC to look anymore due to teh sheer volume of gash. As i also said, "i apologise" and see how frustrating it must have been to some people with my posting especially during the spring to summer of 2005. thats done and dusted, i apologised, i have 4000posts. its done. All i am asking for is that others see the reoccuring pattern and adopt the same mindset in relation to carpet bombing. All this keyboard warrior nonsense by others is tiresome. i am the same offline as i am on and people like that will do fine. Others that spout their insults and bump their gums without being the same when they are confronted at KH, Crail, the meets............are seeking the very real confrontation they apparently so crave to avoid!!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Lets not wander off topic. With reference to Al's thread and 4) Daily Life Issues and General Crap..... The question is do we need it or not ? Not about "rucks" or "keyboard warriors" - i think you and Wilky are missing the point here. Arguing has nothing to do with it .......
st3ph3n Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I'd like to see a button that filtered out all the O/T stuff. I've left forums I really enjoyed because they deviated too much from the subject matter and became a repository for crap jokes and complaints about the cost of cheese or the quality of toilet roll. I've left forums because they tried to categorise a community into loads of different smaller communities and ended up with severe fragmentation of all and sundry too though. I'm not having a go at anyone, but we don't need the latest joke email that everyone's already received 5 times pasted into the forum. We don't need threads about nothing in particular, or about largely mindless drivel. Yes banter is one of the things that makes this place what it is, and the occasional bit of non-scooby related chat is good, but not for the majority of the forum to be made up of it. This is a great community, and I hope it remains a great community.
4Hero Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I have to admit I am responsible for a lot of the O/T stuff recently, only because I know feck all about mechanics/upgrades/tuning [] I have decided to stop posting this stuff from now on. Sorry.
