p1ggm Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 are they any good?? looking to change mine soon as they have done a few miles now
Gumball Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 no dont buy them. mine failed and warped before i even got to KH
scoobykev Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Is that the red stuff pads?, if it is then i'd say NO. Had them on the car for a while, gave up with them and put on mintex pads. Kev
p1ggm Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 hmmmm doesnt sound good i have mintex on just now anywhere online cheap for them, as i am gonna keep them in the boot just incase my pads go at knocky
st3ph3n Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'm using red stuff pads without issue, on standard discs. Taken a good beating round knockhill and lived to tell the tale quite nicely.
alistair_learmonth Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Its seems theres a lot of info regarding this combination, it seem to be a matter of what type of driving and bedding in period, It seems most believe on Scoobynet to give a wide birth, but again you get folks who say there ok on there cars with Dunc at Hypertech even being a fan. Anyway a stayed clear and went for DBA and Pagid pads, no probs and stop like shit, but they do cost more as a combination, maybe its a price thing?
st3ph3n Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I'm not a heavy braker usually. Even on track it seems. I'm also using the WRX Pads and the standard WRX discs, rather than the brembo STI stuff.
alistair_learmonth Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 It seems that disc warping and pad quick wearing was the issue. I can't remember if it was a failing for Sti or WRX cars or a combination of both. It was well debated on Scoobynet.
p1ggm Posted February 25, 2006 Author Posted February 25, 2006 Chris i had a look at that link, cheap pads, but it doesnt say which make. have you used them before? http://www.speedways.co.uk/shop/en-gb/pad1391.htm
Highlander68000 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I had them fail rapidly on my WRX and would never use them again. EBC aftersales customer support sucks too!
rossyboy1 Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 I got Mintex M1155's from here. Cheapest I found. http://www.asptrading.co.uk
P1 NUT Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Another vote for Mintex here. Got the M1166 which are race/rally pads from www.asperformance.co.uk for £65 and that was for the prodrive/alcon 330mm kit. Should be able to get them cheaper if it is the standard caliper you are still running. Apparently Mintex have over produced these pads, thats why they are going so cheap. Half price I think.
FastScooby Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 the link dont work.. it's http://www.asperformance.com/
des_curran Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 I'm running ebc t/groove discs on the front and rear with mintex 1155 pads front and rear too, i've also got goodridge braided hoses and good quality fluid and my brakes work fantastic using the standard brembo calipers and i'm very heavy on the brakes (last minute hero)
