sharon_mccall Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 thanks everyone. i am sitting here reflecting - and a few things are bothering me. we didn't really discuss salary - and if he was gonna offer me the job, would we not have talked a bit more about it? i called him back at 4pm to say that my work will accept 2 weeks notice instead of the 4 weeks i had previously stated. He said " oh thanks for that, but it doesn't really matter" I am assuming from this that it doesn't matter cos i dont have the job. so am unsure now. as i said i did my best - but maybe i don't have what they are looking for. Cheers peeps..............watch this space!
vicki Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 He might think you know the salary. He probably wasn't bothered about 2 weeks or 4 weeks notice cos if they want you they would be willing to wait 4 weeks so don't think you are not getting it. I don't think he would have spent so long with you if he was wasting your time [] Fingers still crossed
sharon_mccall Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 cheers Vicki, just wanted another opinion. I am so wound up right now that maybe i am reading between the lines? thanks again. []
fraser_allan Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Keep your chin up, whats for ye wont go by ye, fingers crossed. Fraz.[]
Gumball Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 Quote thanks everyone. i am sitting here reflecting - and a few things are bothering me. we didn't really discuss salary - and if he was gonna offer me the job, would we not have talked a bit more about it? maybe presumes you know as you saw the advert????? i called him back at 4pm to say that my work will accept 2 weeks notice instead of the 4 weeks i had previously stated. He said " oh thanks for that, but it doesn't really matter" I am assuming from this that it doesn't matter cos i dont have the job. his desired start date for you is 4 weeks away anyway and hence....."it doesnt matter" you called him back and kept him in the loop over your availabiity and im sure thats another feather in your cap. WHEN DID HE SAY YOU WOULD BE TOLD IF YOU HAD BEEN SUCCESSFUL OR NOT? so am unsure now. as i said i did my best - but maybe i don't have what they are looking for. Cheers peeps..............watch this space!
sharon_mccall Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 he didn't say when he'd be in touch, although when i spoke to him at 4, he said he was just going to see Gerry (the 1st guy who interviewed me) so i assume i will maybe hear tomorrow - either way. []
st3ph3n Posted February 6, 2006 Author Posted February 6, 2006 They'd be mad not to hire you, and you know that Sharon. Look at my new job - Interviewed late November, told a week and a half later it was mine, didn't start until end of January. Personnell issues go at their own pace. When I told them I could start anytime they were shocked! They expected me to work out my notice once they'd confirmed everything, essentially giving me a month from the end of January, so it could have taken 3 months + from interview to starting and they'd have been non-fussed. Now fair enough it's the government I'm working for so everything takes twice or thirce as long, but in your case telling him you could start sooner was something he probably wasn't looking for, so don't panic. Good luck again!
sharon_mccall Posted February 6, 2006 Posted February 6, 2006 cheers stephen. i see what your saying and will just wait until i hear from them. the manager is a really sound guy, the kinda manager i'd work really hard for, and totally respect.[Y] thanks again for your reply st3ph3n []
scoobylove Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 sounds good sharon....they wouldnt have interviewed you for 70 minutes on your second interview if the were not interested in you.......fingers crossed for you...[]
gus the bus Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Let us know as soon as you know Sharon! I wouldn't think there would be anyone out there as enthusiastic about the job as you! []
NightOwl Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 70 mins does seem a bl***y long time if they weren't seriously considering you. Also, I drove my cousin down to Mitsubishi's place down at Cirencester for a second interview for a job. ALL the way home (and it's a long drive!!) he was mumping and moaning because he forgot to ask about salary and insisted that if they hadn't mentioned it, that meant they weren't interested. 4 days later they offered him the job and he's now down there having a ball. Fingers crossed Sharon. I'm checking the Forum every couple of hours to see if there's any word!!![]
