st3ph3n Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I was just thinking after another round of mainly magnificent food at the Brewers Farce last night that maybe in the summer months we could (weather permitting) hold the meets at a nice country park or something where we could setup some portable BBQs and bust out the burgers, sausages and whatever. Would be a nice relaxed atmosphere, and if we got food poisoning then it would be our own damn fault for a change! Any thoughts?
col666 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Sounds good St3ph3n, the next prob will be where to have it?! so many events on this year too, all my weekends are nearly full already! Col.
DOPEY Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 will there be any scooby snax defo up for a bbq D
gus the bus Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 St3ph3n, sounds llike a good one. I could recommend Beecraigs Country Park Between Linlithgow and Bathgate would be a grand venue for a BBQ with all the facilities. Excellent Rds en-route too!
col666 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Maybe i am wrong but does Blair Drummond safari park not have an area for BBQ's? Was there last year and can vaguely remember people having BBQ's, Might just of been imagining it though! It has plenty parking areas but can be very, very busy on a summers day. Plenty things for the kiddies to do too, and the big kids! Just a thought
ally-b Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 << Maybe i am wrong but does Blair Drummond safari park not have an area for BBQ's? >> We'd have to be very careful with this venue - some of us lot might not get let back oot Al.
col666 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Nice type r Fee, got mine last weekend superb car,but every time I exit a roundabout I feel like I am entered in the D1 Drift Championship! Shes a lively old girl
Fee Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Tell me about it.....just turned onto a cobbled road earlier and went arse out! All part of the fun!
McGoo Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Was thinking the same thing last night en route home. There is a wee place up at Loch Katrine ( nice run up to Aberfoyle first ) then continue out along the B829 in the forest ( the road that goes to Inversnaid - nice and quiet ). There is a car Park up there that I doubt would be busy so poss venue for a BBQ. Well in saying that, it was quite a few years since I've been up that way - dunno if its changed. Clicky for Map Alternatively, there are a few waterside picnic spots with parking up alongside Loch Lomond on the way to Rowardennan
oobster Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 Sounds braw st3ph3n...... if there's burgers with relish i'm there.
st3ph3n Posted February 3, 2006 Author Posted February 3, 2006 Excellent. I love it when a plan comes together. I was thinking about Beecraigs and also another one, Polkemmet maybe? Not sure why they were in my head. Fairly central I suppose. For people north of Douglas and South of Perth I mean. I apologise to the Aberdeenshire and taysiders (set phasers to malkay) when I forget to factor you into my "what's central" calculations. My plan wasn't just for a weekend thing either. The (insert your region here) monthly meets on (insert the evening you host it on here) could be done too. It's hardly rocket science to meet at a supermarket, get some portable BBQs and some MEAT, a packet of Kraft singles and a beverage of your choice and head off into the country. I don't know about anyone else but I could murder a burnt burger topped with tomato sauce and a kraft cheese slice all on a toasted roll right about now.
gus the bus Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I could walk to the Polkemmet one! good facilities there too! Gus
