Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Finally pulled my finger out and we are starting to get somewhere Adam's most happy with his welder he got for christmas Adam got a new camera yesterday... so some 'better' pictures Yesterdays work.... fixed the huge hole in the floor that adam made the night before welded on the last cage mount welded subframe for drivers bucket gave cage final two coats so its ready to go in now Got my first shot of welding too... nearly up to adam's super standard LOL I am most impressed with my wheels.....really need to get the other two done
colinj Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Good job Fee & Adam Can I have a lap round KH once its all done??
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 We'll see Still need to get a new exhaust, manifold, windscreen, rear beam, coolant pipe.......
Big Daz Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Nice work Fee Looks spookily similar to ours. Our cage gets welded in this weekend (was gonna bolt it in, but bugger it just weld it all in) Agree with the above comment Nice hat Whats wrong with the rear beam? Daz
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Great minds think alike Yours is looking really good....I'm jealous! Will need to have a race when mine's all done
zeolite Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Since we are showing. here is mine and Foz's 205
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Dont think that'll be a problem....I dont have a windscreen in just now LOL
Big Daz Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Zeo, That needs a good tidy up & wash I think Oh, & wtf is that scruffy green thing next to it? Daz
Big Daz Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Couple more, Its a real PIA fitting into a sunroof car, roof lining needs to be binned and BFH is involved 2nd is why its worth all the hassle Daz
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 We've done a dry fit and it didnt seem too bad.... Took the back windows out too which made it a bit easier. I guess it will be harder now that we actually have to put it back in and into a certain position!
zeolite Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Wash the 205? Does not compute. I have to go and repair some fibreglass after the last event. As for the sunroof; on a previous car we had to remove one and it was mounted by some strange Pug bolts. Just pop riveted a sheet of ally on top. roof off roof sheet
Gumball Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Looks like you and Adam did a great job. Adams new camera looks good as well. Did Adam do the welding on the cage? I thought Adam had a corsa? Maybe you and Adam could go to squirrels house and fix the stereo that doesnt work that you sold him? Hes Adament its not working
Big Daz Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Ian, That 2nd pic (roof sheet) looks just like your handywork That'll be the finished article then LOL So you went from a quality colour to the matt white/brown/yellow etc you have now? Daz We're keeping the sunroof. (Escape hatch )
scoobykev Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 << Oh, & wtf is that scruffy green thing next to it? >> doesn't look any better now, decided to park my car round the corner, just in case rust can jump
wilky Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Wow! Adam really has been busy!! Did Adam weld that with his eyes shut? Or did he use a camping stove and a sparkler? lets hope this burst of energy extends to car stereo repair.
zeolite Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 The pics are of a previous car guys. Cost £150 and supposedly had a head gasket problem which turned out to be a duff liner seal. it did one event before i teraded it for the Mi16 205. Kev. Rust can jump so just stay away from dynamic duo. Fee...That is a lot of rust that was on your motor. They were zinc coated from the factory and that kind of rust is unusual in my experience. Has it been accident damaged?
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Zeolite.....the car does have a few rusty patches but as far as I'm aware its not been accident repaired. The patches are pretty random..... one in the boot on the drivers side, that one behind the passenger seat and one on the drivers door. Its just been sitting for the past year which hasnt done it any good, and the windscreen was cracked so it was getting damp inside. before Door1 after Door2 You can see its been getting worse. Me and Adam are doing all the work on it..... I think his welding's pretty good....considering he only tried it first time last week.....and the welded bits dont budge at all....so that's all that matters to me Chris/Wilky - yes I'm sure Adam could extend his skills to Stereo repair, but 1. I didnt even know it was Squirrell that bought the stereo 2. I didnt get a reply to my email so assumed that whatever the problem was had been fixed 3. I'm sure Squirrell can get in touch with me if he wants to without getting two big boys to fight his battles
Fee Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Saying that....I did have my very first accident in it the other night.... Managed to steer it into the garage wall as adam was pushing it back in.....oooopsie
fai17 Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Looking good. I like you hatBut don't wear that going round Knockhill.
Gumball Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Squirrel only has one L. (says wilky using my login)
Big Daz Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Fee, Is Adams welder a gasless MIG ? You need to really remove all the paint etc and clean the metal with them, go nuts with the grinder. That might give him/you a smoother weld (and better penetration ) Its not too difficult, just takes a bit of practice getting the settings right - specially on dissimilar thickness metals. Daz
Fee Posted January 26, 2006 Author Posted January 26, 2006 Wilky/Gumball: Whats going on with the bitchy comments? I've not heard anything from Squirrel since we sold the stereo over 2 months ago?!?! I know my welding is ace :/ but i'm just learning (on fee's track car LOL )
Gumball Posted January 26, 2006 Posted January 26, 2006 no need to take it seriously...we are only playing *edited cos umbrage sounded silly*
