chris_c201 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Alrighty Folks, Something i've done on most cars and i'm looking to do the same on my bugeye WRX as their a bit tatty looking! Only thing is with the Subaru writing / lines on them which are raised i wouldn't mind doing the caliper black and the writing white..... anyone else done this and if so how did you do it, mask the area?? Bearing in mind i'm very pedantic and would be upset if there was a tiny deviance from the line lol.... Cheers Chris.
wrxmania Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 A few folk have Chris, I' suggest posting this in general here and, especially, on Scoobynet - there may be a lot there too. WHOOPS - did I actually recommend going "there!!!" Brian
IanJ Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Hi Chris, I bought one of those kits from Halfrauds and painted my rear calipers, they came up pretty good. My fronts were refurb'd and powder coated by Godspeed and you couldn't tell the difference. I then bought a little tin of Enamel radiator paint from B&Q and painted the lettering with that. Heres a pic of the fronts, unfortunately i don't have any close ups of the back.
chris_c201 Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 Looks pretty good, did you just take your time with the letters / lines?
IanJ Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Yip...it wasn't too bad as i took the calipers off and could do it on the bench
terminator Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 I done mine by painting the entire caliper using hamerite smooth blue, after the paint dried i used a piece of sponge and white hamerite and dabbed it on gently.Works a treat. You could also use a hard square foam pad.
Carl Davey Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Cigarette butts are supposed to be good for doing the lettering with. I just used a thin brush the three times i did mine. PS: i'd seriously consider just leaving them. Before you know it the paint will look worse than the calipers currently do...
chris_c201 Posted January 22, 2006 Author Posted January 22, 2006 Ok cheers guys... Not 100% if i'll do them now but if i do i'll go for painting the whole thing followed by using a sponge or fine brush for the raised white part... Thanks for the tips!
2559B Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 I painted mine gold & done the lettering red ............. very easy to do !!! just take your time

2559B Posted January 22, 2006 Posted January 22, 2006 Cheers guys !!! I also used the Hammerite paint ............... and a thin brush for the letters & lines. Ally.
