paulc555 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Circuit of Ireland Rally 2006 Scrutineering is on Friday 14 from 10am to 7pm Rally is from Sat 15 to Mon 17 April Right guys & gals As promised I am trying to organise a trip to the above rally this year. When I first asked about interest in this event the following names were posted...: 1. Paulc555 2. TheSquirrel555 3. Irish Al and baby no2 4. ScoobyAndy Marshall if required 5. Zeolite 6. Gus the Bus-Spectate or Marshall 7. RubyTheScooby Spectate 8. Col 666 - Spectate 9. gumball-spectate 10. Cal - spectate ( 50/50 as me and Bing might be hitting The Green Hell at Easter - but might be summer) 11. scoobyuk300 - spectate 12. Bing - Spectate ('definitely maybe') 13. ANDYJDMSTI - work dependant So moving on from this and having had communication with my mates in the rally office the plan for moving forward has two options for you all......... First and foremost the cost of the boat even though I can get us all access to a preferential rate is still going to be the guts of £150 for the return trip......so if you are still interested read on..... Intended dates of travel are Fri 07:40 HSS from Stranraer to Belfast Mon 17:10 HSS from Belfast to Stranraer Option 1 (people who want to marshal) Awaiting confirmation from people in the rally organising comittee to confirm but it would be likely that your boat and accomodation could be arranged through the motor club (at your own expense obviously) however it would ensure you get the best rates and are staying in accomodation chosen specifically for being near the stages...all hotels and b&b's book up very quickly near the event but by joining the marshaling team accomodation would most likely have already been allocated...or at least earmarked.....I'm unsure of what will be given to people marshaling on this years event but its usually tshirts, clothing, vouchers of some description..... Option 2 (people who want to spectate) I will probably be able to arrange the boat at the same rate, however I'm afraid due to me not being able to be everywhere I would intend in getting everyone travelling to the main area of the rally. I would be quite happy to provide details of stages and times etc, but would be unable to look after everyone so you would be on your own as it where...with it also being your responsiblity for arranging your accomodation....I can provide links to listings of accomodation in the area.....or you could sleep in the car like I used to do..in the olden days.... So there you go....I will certainly be going to the event albeit might not see much of the stage action, however do please let me know if you are serious about going to this....and I will notify the motor club of the size of our posse..... Having read all of the above please repost your names if you are still interested....I am very busy with work commitments at the moment so like everyone who tries to arrange events on this site would appreciate your honesty...as I will try to arrange boats, accom etc in my spare time........ If nobody is interested after all then I will just go and enjoy myself then....and show you all the photos...... cheers for now Paul Please feel free to pm me any questions.....
paulc555 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 33 views and no replies..... mmmmm looks like i was right about everyone doing a runner... ah well.... thanks anyway...... remind me not to try in the future...
IanJ Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 They're all too busy saying hello to the new 'chick' LOL All sounds cool but i'll be in Aus then. Good luck! Ian
jamie_wood Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Bloomin' good offer you have put down here Paul I hope everyone realises the effort you are putting in to sort this out! Price for the Ferry might put some folks off going but the sail over would be good "craik" too no doubt Done a trip over before and the scenery is good en route too Well worth thinking about for those folks that have only ever been to Knockhill or some of the small time rallys round the doors over here. Irish Tarmac rallying is at the same level as WRC due to the fact that the machinery is mostly WRC spec. If you want to see Subaru's, EVO's, Focus's and much more at 100% then this is the trip to do. It will make you want to come home and rip your Max Power mods off your car and book it into Prodrive or Roger Clark Motorsport for some proper upgrades Hope you do well with this Paul
paulc555 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 looks like it mate... ah well their loss...... less work for me to do now..... perhaps if i had have said "rally babe seeks company up back road "
jamie_wood Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 << perhaps if i had have said "rally babe seeks company up back road " >> Yeh..whatever...like any of them would know what to do

jamie_wood Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 DVD's are top notch Cant beat seeing the "real deal" Scoobies being driven the way they should be Its what made me sell the road going version I think
paulc555 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 aaahhh go on go on go on... get a rallllllyyyyy car...you know you want to...... want me to ask any of my high powered rally contacts for a slightly abused s9 then or just go for a slightly dirty s10... eh!!!!
ScoobyAndy Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Iam still interested, pending further investigations into acomodation costs. Marshalling list... 1. ScoobyAndy Come all you lightweights that had your name down before. Get your arse into gear and get your name down for one of the best Scottish scoobies runs this year

ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Paul, as it stands just now i have a meeting in Hereford on the 14th so would be unable to make the boat, on my way back north i may just take a detour via Belfast If i do then i am more than happy to sort myself out............thanks for the effort

Not going to waste anyones time until I have the cash sitting ready to go Spring 2007 I hope ANDYJDMSTI......watch that the marshals dont confuse you with the competitors What with those thick stickers you were going to get for the arches
ScoobyAndy Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 No problem Jamie. If you get one i'll try not to be too jealous.... :S Long as i get a wee shot
ANDYJDMSTI Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 << ANDYJDMSTI......watch that the marshals dont confuse you with the competitors What with those thick stickers you were going to get for the arches >> am hearing ya bro!!!!
irish al Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 << 33 views and no replies..... mmmmm looks like i was right about everyone doing a runner... ah well.... thanks anyway...... remind me not to try in the future... >> Keep trying, it will be all good in the end. You know I am going to this so theres another one on the list. Its only been up for three hours and the 33 people might not be the ones with the names on the list. Cant do the marshalling thing as the other half is going as well so any info on accomodation would be much appreciated. Marshalling list... 1. ScoobyAndy Spectaters list... 1.Irish A & Baby No 2
sharon_mccall Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 hiya, i am going to have to remove my name from the list. Sorry was really looking forward to it.......
zeolite Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Paul...Sorry to say I can't make it. My motorsport commitments have to be slotted into my holidays because of my irregular work schedule and my days will be used for my autocrossing. I have been to an Irish rally before (Killarney) and I can tell everyone that the are fantstic with the post rally Guiness being the icing on the cake.
gus the bus Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 Paul me old fruitcake, I'm going to check my diary for this the next time i'm in the office but I'm still very interested and would even polish my car for the trip I'll get back to you buddy! Gus
paulc555 Posted January 13, 2006 Author Posted January 13, 2006 hi gus mate... no problemo....looks like its going to be a very restrained party mind you.....i know the boat is probably putting a lot of people of, but hey all i can do is offer...eh.... im looking forward to it anyway.... cheers for now bud....
paulc555 Posted January 14, 2006 Author Posted January 14, 2006 bttt any other interested parties....unlikely i will arrange anything now, but happy to help people with route planning or accomodation.. i tried... i tried......
jamie_wood Posted January 14, 2006 Posted January 14, 2006 Thanks for trying anyway Paul Its not everyones cup of tea. Some folk might be put off by the traveling and the fact its in a foregin country Theres also the chance they might get their car dirty and that just wont do Depending on my global position at the time I will hope to make it over. Fingers crossed.
