~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 - First issue - will we have a calendar ( sticky) as we did in 2005. - Are we still doing a two day run with some camping overnight ? - SIDC track days @ KH ( provisonal info ......) From John S - "I'm working with a few possible dates with KH at the moment. We're hoping to get a date in March sorted out (it's very busy!), but the first semi-confirmed date we've got is 29th April (9am - 1pm). We should have one before this, but it's finding a free slot that's the problem unless you want to go mid-week. Also sorting out a Friday afternoon session in May, but it looks like this may slip to the 9th June. August 19th, 9am - 1pm is also pencilled in. Got a possible date in late September or early October also. John " - anyone else got any ideas ? Just banding some ideas around........ Cheers Cal p.s lets keep 2006 contraversy free
gus the bus Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Cal, did an excellent 2 day run last summer up the west coast 650miles all in from the central belt and some mega roads with naebody (other than the odd caravan on them. Would be happy to provide details and help draw this kinda trip together. PS stayed in a hotel overlooking Eilan Donan Castle near Kyle of Lochalsh which could probably house 30-40 folk if this was of interest. Got the contact details and wasn't too badly priced. Gus PS think I used about £90-£100 in fuel.
st3ph3n Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 2006 Calendar Kindly provided by Irish Al. We should really get it stickied somewhere, if we had a mod. Dunno if you saw it or not Cal, but I suggested perhaps a 6 monthly review on DVD with footage from all the events we've had Cameras at. Thought you might be interested seeing as you've always got the camera at KH.

higgy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 2 DAY EVENT SOUNDS GOOD . pLENTY NOTICE NEEDED . Higgy
johns Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Yes, once we get some confirmed dates for things, we'll get a stick for 2006 events sorted. They'll also be added to the events on the SIDC website as well. Two day run, there were some thoughts on this last year, and it's best to hold this before midgie/tourist season. Perhaps late May/early June, or late October onwards so the roads are still nice and empty. If it is held during the summer, then it would be best to do minimal driving during the day (just too frustrating due to slow moving tourist traffic), and take advantage of the long sunny evenings and virtually no traffic after 7pm. John
McGoo Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 << need to get the two day event scheduled !!!! awesome idea also, in July / august i fancy going a short trip to france and spain for about 5 days, est cost total maybe £900 have the locations to stay at, just need sat nav or a map and were away >> Just done Glasgow to Valencia and back between Boxing Day and 2nd January - 1634 Miles & 26 hours door to door each way including going through a snow storm in eastern France. Though not in a Scooby, a nice comfy Audi A4 Avant, 3 drivers sharing 4 hours / 300 miles rotation. As few stops as possible. Hard going. The worst bit is actually going to the south coast, though the new M6 Toll road is a guid yin !! Channel Tunnel was easy, would like to hear the sound of one of those trains loading up fully packed with burbling and popping Flat 4s !! Sat Nav not required. A decent map is usefull but all you need to know is the direction / town in which you are headed. Motorways are well signposted in France ( I know I know ..... you'd not be using motorways ). There are European Route Numbers marked on the motorways. Example, the E-15 runs from Calais right down through France into Spain and all the way down the East coast to southern spain. Easy as. Just get off the train at Calais and follow the roads marked E-15. Several hours later, and a few Euro's lighter in the wallet, ba-ding, you are in Sunny Spain !! Cheers Davie
Gumball Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 few months time then the 20G or the GT30R will be heading down the E15 with the full fighting weight of 500 hopefully

John >> Are folks happy if I start to prepare details of a two day route!? don't want to step on anyone's toes!!!!! I can do details based on the the trip I did last year which took in some excellent and varied roads and some of the finest scenery to be had in the UK (and beyond!) Including Glencoe, Fort Billy, Lochness, Glen Garry, Kyle of Lochalsh, Plockton, Lochcarron, Inverewe, Gairloch, Ullapool, towards Lochinver back down to Lairg, Dingwall, Inverness and either down the A9 or Lagganside back to Fort Billy or cut through to Aberfeldy, Lochtay and Killin down to Callander. I know all the roads in the area pretty well through work and motorbike trips What do youz think? Gus
billyboy Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 What about a rally-drive day? Costs £800+vat for a full saturday,Its down in north england though. It costs £5000 for k.h. You can use your own car on the tarmac bits. Billy
