pretty mutch agree with andy on this one, we all drive cars that are more than capable of over taking tractors quickly and safely, whether you choose to do so safely is a whole different argument as it wouldn't matter what you were passing.

What i think is more dangerous,( and illegal i think) is the amount of mud left on the road at tattie picking time by the huge trailers.

So can i have a shot of your combine as well

For what its worth, the worst thing on the road is Dundee taxi drivers.face-icon-small-mad.gif

<< Yes total tossers !!! >>

<< OI WATCH IT!!!!!! I TAKE SERIOUS OFFENCE AT THOSE COMMENTS!!!!!

Just remember iam one of those tractor driving tossers, who swears about all the other idiots on the road (car drivers) that think they rule the road and dont know how to drive or overtake. The number of times ive seen tossers in cars nearly meet they're maker while trying to overtake it amazing.

Just remember guys we have the right to be on the road as much as you do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >>

Dont know about you, but most of the trackor drivers up our way are TOSSERS, as are most of the car drivers !!

I have had to swerve out of the right out of the way of on coming tracktor ( on a bend) with my pregers wife and wee boy in the car !! Is that right ??

Bouncing through the village at well more than thirty !! Is that right ??

Bombing through the village in there fastracks with big f### of trailers on the back !! Is that right ??

Seeing you comming then pulling out of the field with more big f### of trailes on the back, so the only option for you to do is test the ABS to the max !! Is that right ??

If you overtake them at night they stick the full beams on you untill your out of site !! why ??

in response to Zeolite yes i do know what its like towing and driving slow moving vehicles as i drive them every day.

my rant was NOT at ALL TRACTOR DRIVERS AND FARMERS it was at the ignorant and dangerous drivers.

As for driving with the forks down that is plain dangerous.

i aint having ago at everyone just stating the facts of what many (but not all) tractor drivers around here seem 2 do.

Was PMSL this morning.

Ended up late for work cos a tractor was driving thru Falkirk at 8.25am this morning.

Counted twenty cars behind it as we shuffled along about 15mph, for a good few miles!!! face-icon-small-smile.gif

point 1... Bouncing through the village at well more than thirty !! Is that right ?? Yes! Most tractors only do 25. Some that are fitted with high gears, uprated breaks and suspension do 30. All completly legal.

point 2. Bombing through the village in there fastracks with big f### of trailers on the back !! Is that right ?? Again YES. 99% of fastracks only do 30. Again there are a few that do 40, but most nowadays only do 30

point 3... Seeing you comming then pulling out of the field with more big f### of trailes on the back, so the only option for you to do is test the ABS to the max !! Is that right ?? Well theyve propably been sitting waiting for long enough to get a gap big enough.. Perhaps if your having to test yur ABS to the max your going too fast and should slow down a bit on country roads.

point 4... If you overtake them at night they stick the full beams on you untill your out of site !! why ?? >>

As i said on an earlier post, remember theyre alot higher up and theyre head lights will seem brighter. I suppose you say the same when you overtake a lorry too?

point 5... I have had to swerve out of the right out of the way of on coming tracktor ( on a bend) with my pregers wife and wee boy in the car !! Is that right ?? What type of road?????? single track? well what do you expect, tractors are big machines. Again when on roads like that at busy times of your perhaps you need to slow down and always expect the unexpected.

I would say the moral of the story no matter who the hell you are is be courteous, check your speed.

aye i know, gotta admit i can understand people taking offence from some of the stronger words used and i can only agree with ScoobyAndy when he says everyone should be curtious on the roads.it would make driving more enjoyable and less stressful.

point 1 - they must be flat out then !

point 2 - same again !

point 3 - i was the only car on the road, and was doing about 40/50 max !

point 4 - they went on after i was past, again the only car on the road !

point 5 - there were whight lines on the road, and it wasnt a single track !

<< I would say the moral of the story no matter who the hell you are is be courteous, check your speed. >>

I totaly agree, its not just tracktor drivers, its a lot of drivers !

Ps, can i get a shot of the combine to ! face-icon-small-wink.gif

know what piddles me off the most its not actually the tractor driver(well he does a bit) but the knob or knobbete that sits so far up the tractors ass that they cant see to pass making it harder for the cars behind to pass. you should all have a go in a fire engine then you will see how thick drivers are with 2 tones and blue flashing lights behind them

I am guilty of driving as you say. But Ill tell you this, Farmers have a crust to earn, the same as you all. He takes up the whole road because the width of his pull, be it a slurry tanker, or a trailer or a hay bob or a mower, harvester will be wider than his tractor and he has to step out a bit not to clip the verge.

He is allowed to transit from place of work to place of work BECAUSE HE HAS TO PAY THE SAME TAXES AS YOU!! and he will pull off the road if he can, 9 times out of ten the journey is so short it doesnt matter.

He is there all year working, reaping, repairing earning his living.

You are the pr**k who makes his job dangerous on a public highway. If you hit his vehicle he will probably offer to settle privately because it would push his farm insurance premium, personally, I would be looking at a murder charge. 9 times out of ten the cops will listen to him, especially if you are driving a fast car, remember that.

Put yourself in his shoes.
