Full decat Remap required?

Recommended Posts

Folks,

As a few of you know I am planning (considering!) along with my other list of mods going for the full decat and possibly headers and up-pipe. Simple question is will I need to get a remap right away or can this be done @ a later date!?

Dont want to spend £1500ish in one go if I dont need too (couldn't afford it @ the mo to be honest unless I can get the Motorbike away).

Answers on a postcard to.

On a std Blob-eye ECU it will try and throw a Check Engine Light and possibly overboost like crazy.

To be safe and get the best result from the decat then get it remapped just after the full decat is fitted

i would say that you need to get it remapped, escpecially if you are changing the headers etc also. i put a nur spec r decat on my car and it ran like a box of frogs. engine management light on, boost spike, mayhem in a can really and not for the right reasons.

JMHO though but i would get it done then mapped to maximize the potential

Sorry to high jack the thread a bit, but am I going to be ok with my 1 CAT in the up-pipe? I removed the Centre and Down-pipe CATs now. I also removed the centre box and replaced the back box with a STi standard box to keep the noise down.

Gus. Did you account for your PPP? I believe it removes some of the cats. So you can possibly save some cash as you wont need to remove them all.

I'm personally going for the decat + remap next year, money willing.

again......i would prefer if it was my car to have the remap without hesitation. the cats not being there and not holding shat in your exhaust and spitting it all clean out the backare going to effect the way the car runs very slightly. theres the chance that your ECU will adjust itself slightly to meet the decatted environment.

is the egnine mgmt light on??????? IMHO if it is mate then its time to visit the guru for ecutek and another 500 withdrawn from the bank of "make the rich richer with little effort Plc"

Gus,

about 5-10% increase

and no the centre/back cat stays on.

PPP is the sports downpipe, and the back box, the centre section has a cat on it and is a rusty shatty standard scooby exhaust section that was on the car to start with

well after the fmic i am gonna need a map, car runns terrible on motorways, but fine on back roads

i would reccomend the map after the de cat, i did it with mine got 327 on the rollers too so i was happy

<< Sounds about right and i would add in a £85 fuel pump as well

The gains from the remap and decat will be more than worth it

I had replaced the exhaust from the turbo back and had a cel fix fitted, it was rough, loud and thirsty.

After the headers, uppipe and remap it was quiter and not as thirsty, but runs smoother and fith gear is like third gear. Fantastic.

samco hoses for intercooler, heatwrap and spark plugs ???........ and the list goes on face-icon-small-smile.gif

There is a chance of the pre turbo cat breaking down when you up the boost level

Cat breaks down and bits fly into your turbo equals dead turbo

Best decat the up pipe

Negative commander.........on a PPP wrx you get Y-piece intercoller hose, remapped ECU, prodrive BB and decat centre pipe......downpipe is left alone ( & only changed for a hig flow cat on the PPP STi)

If he ditched the downpipe with a ramp he'd be looking at 270-285 bhp IMHO

Will find out this week, definately before sat so will let you know.

My wrx is limited by the turbo and intercooler, but am sure yours isnt.

Isnt your car still under that helpfull but annoying thing called warrenty ????

Yip, sure is mate! Thats why I'm still THINKING about it. However, I'd rather get it decatted the now tho so I get the best part of three years without the hassle of MOT'sface-icon-small-wink.gif

Or.... maybe I should just stick to the Rallytech Spoiler and other body mods for nowface-icon-small-confused.gif

Warranty is not an issue if you've got good friends.

If you get the things done,i would expect about 300bhp.face-icon-small-wink.gif

Meercat full snakehead down pipe back 3 inch system £550

Andy F Ecutek remap.....................................................£550

GruppeS or GT Spec Header and up pipe.......................£450

Labour to fit headers at Greersport ..................£100 - £150

Bosche fuel pump supply & fit at above.........................£150

total £1850

It's a bit more than you thought but you can do it stage by stage.

Like start with the exhaust and fuel pump. The car will be fine as i was driving like that for about 2 months but had to get the CEL reset at Subaru.

Then headers and finally a remap.

Your car will to great at the end thoface-icon-small-happy.gif
