the squiggle Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Bugatti Veyron 1001 hp with 4 turbos Will it hold together long enough? Eagerly looking forward to seeing this car as it has been in development since the 70's Grant
ScoobyAndy Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 MMMMMMM it even starts with one of my favourite engines

jcscoob Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 That thing is mad !!! 5 million to make one WTF, vw are making a huge loss but hey Did'nt see how much they were to buy, anyone know ?
scoobykev Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 << Did'nt see how much they were to buy, anyone know ? >> £840,000 i think, and its got the rear lights off a new passat
st3ph3n Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 It's quite a bit of kit really. Here's a great list of the "ten coolest things" about the Veyron. A second key is required to program the car into its top ?speed? mode. How many other cars are ballsy enough to have a horsepower gauge? The top of the engine is exposed; there?s no glass or other cover. It?ll score you the best parking place at any restaurant anywhere in the world. The audio system costs $30,000 Switch the stability control off, and it?ll spin all four wheels in third gear. Going 0-to-250 mph takes less than a minute. At full throttle in seventh gear, the Veyron gets less than three mpg. What looks like a secondary rear spoiler is in fact an air brake. Bugatti Requires a deposit of more than $350,000 just to place an order. There's something very satisfying about the car as a whole.
Johnny50 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 << 5 million to make one WTF, vw are making a huge loss but hey Did'nt see how much they were to buy, anyone know ? >> Did they mention how many there were planning, or have built ??
the squiggle Posted December 12, 2005 Author Posted December 12, 2005 Spotted a few similarities between my car and the Veyron How many other cars are ballsy enough to have a horsepower gauge? ........................................Erm mine {Apexi and reads up to 400ps, but need to fit it} Switch the stability control off, and it?ll spin all four wheels in third gear.....Dont have stabilty control and it will spin them in fourth, so thats one up i have on the Veyron I can sympathise when the went through his checklist before giving it some beans Is the road dry? Is the road straight? Is the road smooth? If i can answer yes to all 3 questions then i can give it some beans Again i have to do the same check list before i can open my car up.................. Grant
st3ph3n Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Do you think a big tuning market will spring up around it? Surely 1001 horses is not enough.
chris_c201 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Have to agree it was a superb car but why didn't the stig do a lap!!!?!?
jcscoob Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Soft of a bit like a 350z around the quater panel's ! Johnny not sure how many will be made, but i dont think it will be many .
Ken 275 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 It's a nice motor - 1,000 bhp and will do do 252 mph with the limiter still on. £840K ? Get real; not even JK will have one. As for the appearance of it, no thanks, I'd rather have an E-Type. With all round discs of course ! Give me a 22B or a DB9 any day. K.
colinj Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Totally astonishing car!!! I was as blown away sat at home watching as JC was driving the beast!! Sit it next to a Mclaren F1(previous fastest production car), allow the F1 to set off & reach 120mph & still the Bugatti Veyron will beat it to 200mph AMAZING!!! 250mph - 0 in 10 seconds....covers 5 football pitches in that time <- is how I sat watching the tv last night!!! Shame the stig didnt take it round the track.......wonder why he didnt!
st3ph3n Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 It's been said plenty of times - it's not only a car but a technical excerscise too. It can't be compared to even the McLaren F1. It's a car Jim, but not as we know it. It's not the kind of car you ask "What's the fuel economy?", "Will the residuals be good?", "Insurance costs?". There are two kind of people in the world. Those who can afford a Veyron and those who don't have a hope in hell. As clarkson said last night we'll probably never see a car like this again in our lifetime, if ever. But it's nice to dream.
