st3ph3n Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Times have changed in the last 10-20 years though. Insurance is a squillion times more expensive and insuring something with a bit of poke is costly as we all know. Hell I had the cash sitting waiting to get a Supra when I was 20 but the insurance was almost as much as the car! And so that's why people are buying middle of the road cars and making them look different. There is many a car out there that has been ruined because every accessory under the sun has been added to it. Mostly without consideration of the overall aesthetics of the car. Bits look bolted on just for the sake of it. Lexus or other lights that look utterly out of place. Parts of a car chromed that don't need chrome. Wheels that look like they're 3 sizes too big for a car and stick out like a sore thumb. And bits of fibreglass added that don't seem to match the other bits of added fibreglass never mind the rest of the car. There are some very nicely modded all show and no go cars out there. Put together with a plan and a design ethos in mind using tasteful parts, rather than just going to halfords and grabbing every bit that is designed to fit your car.
jcscoob Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 << Put together with a plan and a design ethos >> I agree ! Steven the cars that are done with this in mind are very good, but its the minute they go just a wee bit to far thats when it goes to pieces !
zeolite Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 << Yea MK1 2.0 escorts with twin 40's !! now thats a real car >> Nope. They should have 45s 40s are for crossflows and guess what I still have in the garage.
ScoobyAndy Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 Stop talking about MK1&2 escorts!!!!!! Your giving me bad ideas for my next project!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 no it should be twin 50,s ......... now thats some serious poke ! if you could get the jetting right.
zeolite Posted December 10, 2005 Posted December 10, 2005 << no it should be twin 50,s ......... now thats some serious poke ! if you could get the jetting right. >> No. It is 45s m8. Bit of rose tinted glasses here. The pinto wasn't known as "the boat anchor"for no reason. 160 bhp was as good as it got without silly money. Modern engines are far superior.
G.T.
