Gumball Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 nice one mate, thats a fair old list youve got going there. did you keep this quietish or have i been sleeping??
irish al Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 One month the list was on the computer, the next month it was on the car
Gumball Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 thats good mate, personally i would have decided, changed my mind, bought it, posted, refunded, bought............... i like to see people that are more decisive
st3ph3n Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 It's a fair selection. How do you find the uprated brake lines and fluid? I must say I was very impressed by the ICE install last time I saw it.
sharon_mccall Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Yeah his boot is cool as fuuuk. Neon lights are fab. Was very impressed
irish al Posted December 4, 2005 Author Posted December 4, 2005 The uprated brake lines and fluid are definately better and noticable, think that means there is less fade, but to me it means i stop faster and firmer, if that makes sense The Mintex 1155 Pads are a little squeky and very dusty but far better than the standard wrx ones.
gus the bus Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 Some list Al! You should post up your list for next year and Lyndsey will see what you want NEED for your Christmas Unlike yours, mine is still a long list but once the spring comes and the bike goes it will be green light time (hopefully!)
weeb Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 thats is one mofo list!! must have cost u a bomb!!! the car sounds magic tho!! get some pics posted!!
irish al Posted December 5, 2005 Author Posted December 5, 2005 Will get some pic posted when i get rid of the space saver, and its been washed.
wrxmania Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 Hi Al, I could give you a loan of one of my "ready to go on the car soon as the back tyres are nearly gubbed" ones for a few days - I have a complete set of four polished and ready - just noticed the thread now.... Brian
irish al Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 Close to 300bhp but no cigar, Took my car to Dastek to day, It made 291bhp/298lbft. Not sure whats next but i have a good idea Has anyone else had thier wrx above 300bhp or what seems to be the limit for the engine. There was also two guys there from Visual Sciences Ltd to recored the sounds from the cars exhaust and hopefully they will be used in a new racing game being made. The cars 15min of fame
st3ph3n Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Al, I'm no expert, but I'd guess the intake side is what's holding you back now. I remember reading something which slated a K&N filter over a standard one, although that was for a yank tank and not a WRX. Perhaps some sort of Cold Air Intake is where its at. My engine plans for next year are quite similar to what you've done, with the exception of the headers, so your results give me something to aim at. OH, I forgot to say - those are good figures. You shouldn't be disappointed.
Bing Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Look like good figures to me too, sure it will run sweet as Dont think the cold air feed makes all that much diffference till you reach 350 ish, but i may very well be wrong! Just go back to Dastek another day, the figures will prob be different ...as Bruce F would say "higher, lower, higher, lower"
spooks Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 << Just go back to Dastek another day, the figures will prob be different ...as Bruce F would say "higher, lower, higher, lower" >> Gotta say disagree a bit with that, Dastek seem to have the most consistant rollers around, there will always be a slight difference but never more than 2-3 bhp ...... we have seen 20 bhp differences in other rollers. Al great figures, speak to Andy to figure out how to get above the 300bhp mark...... he will tell ya im sure Oh and dont blame me for starting you on the path Aint my fault , but I think it deserves a wee shot innit Spooks
mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 That is one hell of a modification list, Iqy likes I bet the scoob must be running a right treat with all those tasty mods, hopefully get to give you another run at Crail to test them out Am very intrested to see what your custom boot install looks like, got any pics of it mate?
oobster Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 It's never finished Al, never. It's just waiting for the bank balance to recover Nice spec, nice noise off it last week too. P.S. - Apologies, but there isn't an 'e' in Handling (your website)
irish al Posted December 16, 2005 Author Posted December 16, 2005 Bing, paul did two runs for the car with about half hour between them. they were both very similar. Scott will take you out next time i see ya. Iqy, will have to wait till next year before we have more fun. Andy, its not the bank balance, its Baby No 2 looking to be Baby No 1 for a while. Spelling corrected.
paul@dastek Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Well this is my first post on this site but i need to comment on the power of Irish Al. I was really impressed mate, i am now lacking behind i think the next thing for you is Intercooler. Well done M8
andrew_forrest Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Intercooler and turbo would be the next move. The original TD04 is pretty much maxed out at this level but the upside is that it is on full boost by circa 2500rpm which makes for a very wide and useable powerband I'm currently running my own WRX 03 on a TD05-18G at circa 375bhp but to be honest, once the testing article is completed for scoobymag, I'll be returning to the TD04 hybrid with 320/320 and full boost from 2600rpm Andy

=Robbo= Posted December 17, 2005 Posted December 17, 2005 I'll take a guess why Andy is going back to the Hybrid TD04, it's because the Torque appears earlier. Nothing beats low down grunt for drivability. Big BHP/Torque at 5000RPM don't equal big fun on a B class road. I think the real fun comes from big brake power and going round corners really really fast. But that's just my personal opinion. Robbo.
