Mako Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Well, we finally received our 06my Sti Demonstrator so thought it would be rude not to take it home for a wee evaluation First thoughts..... very very responsive. New drive by wire makes the throttle response great. Power delivery is very smooth, and incredibly torquey. The car is standard just now as the PPP's have not been launched yet. Can't wait for that, should make the car very quick. New dash is cool, electro luminescent red same as jdm models. Feels slightly sharper than 05MY. Will see how it goes over the weekend but I think it will be really rewarding drive once I get a bit more used to it Cheers Russ
jcscoob Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Hope you are gonna bring it to the T.I.S (taysiders in space) meet on sunday !!
johns Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Russ, if you fancy a drive up to Aberdeenshire, then I'd be delighted to carry out some evaluation for you as well. Not sure the RE-070s would cope too well with the snow/slush/wet roads though! John

~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 Mako - thanks for posting something that doesn't make me want to scream or recoil with embarrassement after yet another piece of keyboard diarhhea ............ Very interested to hear more of your views after your driven the new beast.......any piccies are welcome too......you're a lucky young buck ! What's the steering like and is it less prone to understeer ? Are the brakes still fading after a while... Get out there and enjoy ! Regards Cal p.s to anyone who feels they need to respond to my first line .....don't bother - 95% of people in here want to read about things like mako's post.......
dipsy Posted November 26, 2005 Posted November 26, 2005 I had a look round it when i was at eden.Not bad they don't have re070 .
Mako Posted November 27, 2005 Author Posted November 27, 2005 Well, had a good drive last night and have come to the conclusion that it definitely feels sharper than the 05my. Power delivery is so smooth. It really clocks up pace. Appears to pull stronger than our 05my and the gearing is so much better. Easier cruising in 5th and 6th. Grip is absolutely superb and understeer seems to have been reduced. More just a nice 4wd drift and then grip it straightens up and goes. Like I said before the throttle response is crazy. Had a customer out in it today (he has an 05my) and he even commented that it felt fantastic. John, I will try and get along tonight but I have a load of stuff to do when I get home from work but will try my best. Cheers Russ
dipsy Posted November 27, 2005 Posted November 27, 2005 Russ you should have had 2.5 sti out when i was there see how good it is against 05 jdm sti i have
spooks Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Have to say after seeing it today it is indeed a nice bit of kit, only thing I would change is the rear lights...would miss the burble but I could live with the extra torque If I could only afford it Spooks
billyboy Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Does it rattle though? Letter of disgust on way to Subaru.
derek_robertson Posted November 28, 2005 Posted November 28, 2005 Nice number of posts Billy Hope you get it sorted from IM. You're a lucky beggar Russ, got any piccies yet???? Del
