5cooby Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 as i cannot afford a subaru as of yet and i already have a car on hp, does anyone know where i can get a bare classic shell. my dad built a car from the shell up and is now urging me to do the same and therfore have cam up with this master plan
5cooby Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 doh!! never thought of that one cheers dougster
paddy247 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Unless you are very lucky, I cant see you building a classic scooby from bare shell and being quids in. Engine, gearbox, diff, £1500-£2000 most likely, maybe more. Shell, £100-£500, maybe more Not to mention things like the clutch, wheels, tyres, and all the other bits that may not be on the shell you buy. £800-£>>>> You can pick up a decent scooby whole for about 3k, Then there is the resale value of a q plate to consider. Hope this helps.
5cooby Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 cheers gumball i have sent them an email to find out
Johnny50 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I'm pretty sure there was an RA rolling shell for sale on Snet
Johnny50 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Bit pricey...but here it is. Apologies for not being a clicky.. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?...t=rolling+shell
colinj Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 You can pick up an early WRX for £3k now days!! How about finding one with a blown engine for mucho cheap & doing the rebuild yourself?? I dont think a bare shell build would be financially viable if your trying to get one cheap!!
wilky Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Speak to bill at Greersport I think they have a rolling shell! Callum W
lescazscoob Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 we had same problem wanted a scoob but between buying it and the insurance we were struggling so we bought the 2 litre sport scoob which has been done up as wrc rally car, looks good, sounds good and turns a lot of heads. Insurance isnt too bad but this is our first step before getting bigger one next year but at the moment im over the moon and know you only go faster (unless u get banned lol) just another option you could look into cause they arnt that expensive at the moment and then u have shell when finished? carolann
5cooby Posted November 17, 2005 Author Posted November 17, 2005 well thanks to Gumball. autosportif sell brand new 2 door shells primered for £1000 and on the link dan posted theres a sport for £1175. so that would be the cheapest 2door scoob and more than likely the only non turbo 2dr
lescazscoob Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 that sounds great and insurance wont be too bad either. you could do something really mad and different from everyone else! mind keep an eye on for sale forum cause theres great stuff on there i know have spent fortune this week on wheels, afterburner rear lights, eibach springs and new shocks got the lot 4 £250!!! will cost £150 for fitting and geometry check at falkland perfomance. all in all not bad eh pays to look about

paddy247 Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 good luck, if you get it sorted, maybe you can post pics of your progress,
st3ph3n Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 I'm sure there's plenty of mechanical gods on here that would love to get their hands dirty on a project like that if you ever need help. If you do go for it keep a good blog of your progress and get some google ads down the side. Might make a bit of cash for it, you never know.
