The £160 oil change

Here is how a simple oil change cost me £160

Last Saturday i bought 4L of Mobil One 15w/50 from Halfrauds for £36 and a filter from Premier for £6

On Tuesday i asked the Mobile Mechanic that services the works vans if he fancied a £50 homer doing an oil change and remove the oil cooler adapter. I told him the oil and filter were behind the drivers seat and proceeded out on my delivery run.

Got a phone call at lunchtime to say that the adapter was off and the oil was changed.

On the Wedensday morning, about 7ish and still in sleep mode, i gave him the money for the oil change and adaptor removal. He said that he cabled tied the old connectors out the way and that i had not left enough oilfor the job and he had to buy another 2 litres to "bring it up to the mark". being in sleep mode i did not register this statement and its implications. When i started to wake up out on my run i realised what he meant and dipped the car for oil upon my return. The booger about brand new oil is trying to find the oil residue on the stick and could not be sure of how much oil was actually in there. When giving the car some stick i was getting some knock activity on the Commander. This morning before heading down the garage i dipped the oil in the daylight and could now see it was about an inch over the full mark. I removed the intercooler pipe to find the inside coated with oily residue. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHH.

I had paid top doller for the best fully synthetic oil at the proper grade for my engine and to "bring it up to the mark" he used some Vauxhall multigrade.

So for 3 days i had some cow muck as oil and overfilled by 50%. I think when he comes in on Tuesday i will be having a word in his shell like

So i headed back to Halfrauds and purchased another 4 L of Mobil One 15w/50, a spare 1 litre and a new filter for £56 in total

Now with the oil at the proper level, halfway between full and empty on the dipstick, the knock activity under load on the Commander has vitually dissappeared.

Morale of the story is If you wanna it done right, do it yourself.

Total bill was £146 just to change the bloody oil

Ask if hes ever changed a turboed car if yes is the answer..... pray for other people who asked him for a oil change..... hell pray for all who got a oil change by him.

Never over or under fill an engine I was always told.
