alistair_learmonth Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Insurance for Central Belt area. Right did some research for insurance and stayed with admiral who I was already insured with. The quotes were for the following for an old man of 44. the best bit was that i only had to coff up another £200 to get insured. Impreza WRX Sti Uk spec PPP Style (305BHP) Fully comp Driver plus spouse only Legal expense Excess: £50 for windows, £100 fo third party fire and theft, £250 volin excess all other. Parked in drive Thatcham 1 immobiliser Extras fitted, spoiler front, rear, side skirts and front mesh grills Admiral = £593.00 Elephant = £631.00 The rest were over £750 to £950 but not that my research was exhaustive.
st3ph3n Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Isn't insurance a funny old game? Or some form of mysterious black magic? Admiral and Elephant are the same company, and the difference you get there is about the difference I get, but with Elephant being the cheaper. Although I'm paying 800+ as I'm only 24. I completely gave up trying to understand insurance. It hurts my head.
clutdav Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I just shop around until I find the best quote and then play 2 insurance companies off against each other. Good game. Anyway I got my 05 STi v9 insured for £650 and I'm only 26. Insurance is a scam........ Dave
sharon_mccall Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 It's probably so high cos of where you live (a bit dodgy) LOL

sharon_mccall Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 << The quotes were for the following for an old man of 44 >> That's why it's so dear...........yer an old git. LOL
alistair_learmonth Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 I had to modify ma zimmer for the boot lol
jamie_wood Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 All this talk of insurance!!! Most of the figures quoted are more than we pay for the scooby and the Jeep together Must be the upper class area I live in LOL
sharon_mccall Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 << I had to modify ma zimmer for the boot lol >> LMAO - very good.
st3ph3n Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 If I kid on I'm a year older then I'm usually quids in for insurance. But that's probably illegal. I paid more than what I'm paying just now to get insured on a Vauxhall stinkin' Vectra when I was 20, so I count myself lucky. And can anyone beat my best insurance quote - 9 grand for a Supra back in 2001.
gus the bus Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 £9k to insure a Supra!!!! FFS!!! was the insurance dearer than the car???? My Insurance is through Admiral and including NCB protection and Business Use (class-1) is £438 per annum (tracker fitted as standard). Thats with an ML7 postcode (dodgy!!) living in West Lothian (Just!). For the same level of cover with so called "performance specialists" it was gonna be £1200-1300. One company even said that they couldn't insure me unless I had the car for a year! now how the feck could I do that???? I also got a quote for an STi from Admiral which was gonna be a fairly decent £612.00 gus
st3ph3n Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Car was 11K, so near enough. That was quite cheap for the spec back in 2001, and it was a mile away from my house, and I had the money for it, but not for the insurance clealry. Even a cheap quote was 2K+
gus the bus Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Insurance is one crazy, scary thing. Its unbelievable what some insurance companies quotes come out as.Canny live without it though!
johnnyr6 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Have you tried A Plan? they beat elephant by £200 for me, very good company to deal; with aswell and they don't mind mods. They advertise on snet.
alistair_learmonth Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 A few companies to try will keep in mind for renewal. Cheers all that replied.
irish al Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Greenlight Insurance Brokers all the way. They actually know what a dump valve is. You can have as many mods as you like without increasing your premium as long as they dont increase the bhp of the car.
fai17 Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 Thats not bad for a young guy like you. I paid £650 from Privilege
