st3ph3n Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Just sorting out some arrangements for Sunday morning with my mate Richard that'll be in charge of my spare wheels and other supplies I may need. He tells me that last time he filled up he bought 29.5 litres and that got him 241 miles. 29.5 litres = 6.48909014 Imperial Gallons. 241 miles divided by 6.48909014 gallons = 37.14 Miles to the Gallon. That's in a MY05 WRX bought within about 3 weeks of mine and that does about the same mileage as mine, but cearly driven in an entirely different fashion. That's on REGULAR petrol too! He says in reference to driving from Kincarding to KH with us - "I hope you guys are not going to drive really fast and blast away into the horizon" - I think we better at least show him how to use a Subaru like the good people at Fuji heavy industries intended.
fai17 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Sounds too good to be true m8 I get about 18 mpg

st3ph3n Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 I get low 20s in mine on my regular to and from work + a wee play now and again. We're responsible for killing the world. And I like it.
craig mac Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Guys Scoob 17 mpg Westy 8 mpg but it is so much fun !!!! Craig
iroc-si Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 << you sure youve not got a V8 under that bonnet? >> Oi! V8's are efficient.... I get over 25mpg out of my gaz guzzling yank tank! Si.
imprezapete Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 416.93 miles to a tank, has he disconnected the turbo or something? Subaru's own stats show Extra Urban 39.8mpg and Urban 22.2mpg which is a Combined 30.7mpg. Everyone knows that Manufacturer stats are way off as well. I cant get above 295 miles to a tank and that was driving like a nun for that tank on a duel carriageway, he must drive like a slow nun with a slowness disease.
dipsy Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Does the turbo work or does he free wheel a lot ie done hill i have never been above 210 for a tank and i have had mine from new but how cares its a high performance car
2559B Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 think he must be pushing it everywhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gumball Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 i think my new age wrx used to get about 240max, the sti pushed 220tops 295? should think about trading in for a UGO
gordon_kerr Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Never been that bothered about fuel consumption, when its getting empty i fill it to the neck, then next day fill it again and so on
billyboy Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 I think i'll get good fuel consumption with mine. It'll never be out of the garage gettin fixed bag of s$$$$.
Gumball Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 << It'll never be out of the garage gettin fixed bag of s$$$$. >> lolololololol, youll get it sorted.
imprezapete Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 << I think i'll get good fuel consumption with mine. It'll never be out of the garage gettin fixed bag of s$$$$. >> Whats up with the new car? Also what did you go for in the end?

jamie_wood Posted September 24, 2005 Posted September 24, 2005 Ah!! The age old fuel consumption debate All I know is that I can watch the gauge move when im on the motorway. If I check the position every five minutes then I can see it moving from say the top of the mark to the bottom side of ther mark To top it all off I dont think I can justify its thirst agaist the performance. I feel the fuel consumption isn't worth the power it delivers. The ride is harsh and noisy and after two hours in the pilots seat I feel like I need a back operation I think I want someting thats got an all round performance / comfort / handling / styling rolled into one. Im not interested in having to modify an "okay" car to make it go better. Buy it off the shelf is my new theory. Sorry if its off topic. P.s What should I buy to fit my needs?? Just wanted a rant
