oobster Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Can't get one of these for love nor money in the shops @ the moment. Might try flea-bay but prefer paying the slight bit extra for the comfort factor of walking into a shop & walking back out with one + receipt. Would love to have one for taking on hols with me next week but it isn't looking likely now.
Johnny50 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Andy, Sony shop in Edinburgh (Stockbridge branch) had loads yesterday when i was in.
oobster Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Nope - they are sold out Jonny!! I've tried quite a few places today, some under st3ph3n's advice (thanks by the way) but no luck so far. I think a lot of places have the empty boxes on display but no actual stock. I'm sure i'll get one, eventually
st3ph3n Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 More places - Sony Centre in Alloa (one in Stirling too?), any Toys'r'us, they big Tescos and Asdas, CA Games in the decourcy arcade off Byers Road in Glasgow, Woolworths (?), John Lewis, Argos, Index, The Big W, Makro, Costco, HMV, Virgin. Also - don't get the value pack. It's not really good value as the 32mb card wont really last long for MP3s and Music, and the price of mem stick duos has dropped dramatically since the introduction of the PSP. Do buy a good case and maybe a screen protector.
oobster Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Thanks for all your advice stephen.... i'm sure i'll get one this week somewhere!!
fai17 Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 My perants are going to Hong Kong for a couple of months and going to tell them to bring a few back. Its about £80 to £90 there.
oobster Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Sony Centre in West Nile Street, Glasgow have got one, but it's part of the value pack and i dont get to pick the games i want. I give up.
st3ph3n Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 Are they force selling it with specific games in the Bundle? The value pack itself is just system + 32mb mem stick duo (too small) + slip case (reasonable, better ones available) + very camp white patent leather wrist strap (hello sailor) + remote (nice) + earphones (useless). The battery and charger are included in the standard pack as it is.
oobster Posted September 12, 2005 Posted September 12, 2005 They are selling the PSP with the value pack + 2 games, but they dont have the value pack + games boxes in yet (they are coming tomorrow). The box will contain the value pack + the 2 games, but it's pot luck if i get the box with the 2 games i want. Plus they wont sell the machine on it's own. Fed up trying today, i'll wait & see what tomorrow brings. I've tried HMV, Virgin, Toys R Us, Tesco, G-Force, Currys, PC World plus a few others that I can't remember coz my brain is frazzled with it all. Sony Centre in Alloa had got one left (when i called earlier) that is the PSP on it's own (£179.99) but that's probably gone now. The Mrs works in Grangemouth but she took a flier away from work & was almost home when i called her.
oobster Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 Got one today (from Alloa) - WOW this is some piece of kit!! Graphics are amazing. Thoroughly recommend one (f you can get hold of them!!)
jcscoob Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 GOT ONE !!! But mrs Jc has got it for my B/day ( yes i am spoiled ... lol ) but it's not till the 4th of december so it has been put in an undisclosed place till the 4th. Cant wait
oobster Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Awww..... thats no fair. Surely if you beg/plead/offer to do the washing up for a month etc she'll let u have your birthday present a bit early? Just got TOCA racedriver thingy for mine, quite a good game. I find that the music thru the headphones isnt loud enough - even on full volume. Anyone got any tips? Perhaps i'm just getting auld & deef.
jcscoob Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 No chance m8, she's well stubborn !! but at least it's there ...... somewhere ???
st3ph3n Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 oobster, there's different audio settings in the menus. Give them a bash. Although I suspect as yours is a euro model it has the daft EU noise level pish on it. My creative zen was quiet as a mouse until I flashed it with US firmware.
Iaing Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Forgot to add, buy a jap one with firmware v 1.5 or less if you can get hold of one. Supposodly better screen and they can play "backup" games off the memory card too (the Uk ones run firmware v1.52 and 2.0 and wont play games from the memory card). I had a Uk one and swapped it for a jap import (friend wanted to play a game that would only run on 2.0). I can always upgrade to 2.0 at a later date. Having said apparently that you can now downgrade you're uk psp to run firmware 1.5. Worthwhile if it works. Iain
st3ph3n Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I downgraded my Jap one that I'd put the 2.0 firmware on. It's now back at 1.5. Only so I can use emulators of course. I don't condone piracy.
jcscoob Posted October 24, 2005 Author Posted October 24, 2005 HOW ??? how do you do that ? does it just work of a wireless router type thing can you post, or is it just for looking ? Im gona have to stop reading this thread, it just make's me want to find the little begger lol ..
st3ph3n Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 Wireless router + 2.0 firmware. I made a thread many months ago now that I posted using the PSP just after the 2.0 firmware came out. I've now downgraded back to 1.5 for the cough cough ahem ahem reasons.
