oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 ....from Norwich Union..... £1237.00!!!!!!!!!! Eek
st3ph3n Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Daaaaamn! Have you tried (the now very annoyingly advertised) Confused dot com? I'm with Elephant myself, but I'll be giving some of the specialists a phone this time round I think.
2559B Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 << ....from Norwich Union..... £1237.00!!!!!!!!!! Eek >> QUOTE ME HAPPY ............... LOAD OF $HIT3 !!!!!
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Spoke to Rob @ A-Plan, and he reckons that, although it's 7 weeks till my renewal date, he can get it to be around a grand. Thats with all the modifications, plus my speeding convictions, plus the wife added, with the two claims there has been this year on her car insurance (someone hit her car in Tesco's and left without leaving a note - it needed a new quarter, then the drunk/drugged pedestrian hitting it in glasgow at the end of may (i was driving that time - the car needed another rear quarter on the other side) - the pedestrian was charged with the damage caused but his case is still waiting to be heard). Also covers business use too. To be honest, i was more expecting around the £800 mark - was i being unrealistic?
Ken 275 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Got mine down to £450, and with a lower XS, using NU. This time last year Kwik Fit quoted me £1.5K, More Than came back with £550, albeit a big XS. Shop around. I did the interweb thing and eventually resorted to a broker, he obtained a deal I couldn't source myself. I suppose you will be a Group 18? My car's a 17, so probably cheaper, even with the G82 post code. Good hunting, K.
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 Yup - Group 19. Was considering booking my car in to get the prodrive springs fitted too - that ain't gonna be happening now
Ken 275 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Looks like I'm out of touch. Good luck anyway. K.
jcscoob Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I was £1350 last year renewal for this year was £1200 confused.com are doin it for £550 so it pays to shop around !!
scoobykev Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 i'm with asda. £350 fully comp and a low excess
st3ph3n Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 JC, double check that price, because sometimes with confused I was getting quotes for a GX rather than a WRX.
irish al Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Just got £683 from elephant and £603 from Bell Insurance. They have a place to declare mods. It appears if it aint in the list they aint bothered. Try www.moneysupermarket.com
2559B Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 i'm £767 with elephant ..... that's with mods & 3 points.
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 tried bell direct - no quote (too many mods) also tried adrian flux and they were over £1500
karps Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 try swiftcover, i got mine there, high excess though
craigdmcd Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Always declare the mods over the phone, even if the person at the other end of the line doesn't understand them, at least when it comes to the good ol' "you never declared that" lark, you can tell them "yes I did!!"
gus the bus Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 Guys n Girls, I went through confused.com with my MY05 WRX 300 (PPP and other mods listed) including class one business use, legal cover and a £100 excess for £458.00 policy is with Admiral. All other companies were quoting me £1200+. I would suggest tho that once you fill in the proforma with confused and they list the quotes that you then actually deal with the insurer direct as originally through confused my quote was £580. worth a try Gus
ANDYJDMSTI Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 got £720 with A Plan for a JDM STI8 with all mods declared. bonus!!!
tino Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 £1200 with Greenlight Insurance. All modifications (extensive) declared. Surprised too as it came down about £300 from last year.
oobster Posted August 31, 2005 Author Posted August 31, 2005 A-plan has been my best price so far. Also tried confused.com, and waiting to hear back from greenlight. Seems this accident in May is bumping up the price - also doesn't help that i've been done for speeding 3 times in the last 5 years Ah well....... i expected about £800 so if A-plan is about a grand then it's not too bad. Bye-bye goes the new springs though.
2559B Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 insurance / petrol / road tax / parking fines / speeding fines / tinted window fines / license plate fines / etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc IT IS ALL JUST ONE BIG F**KING GOVERNMENT RIP - OFF !!!!!!!!!!!
