craig_murray Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 There is one thing in a long list of mods i seem to have neglected. " STOPPING QUICKER " Should you spend money on a brake upgrade kit or better discs and pads ? Looking for any advice, prices & where to purchase. I have a classic wagon with the subaru 4 pots & 294mm discs. ( all standard ) After re-map were hoping for 370-380 bhp so better brakes is going to be essential. Thanks again Craig.
drb5 Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 Main question is, how much are you willing to spend?
colinj Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 You can get 6 pots but I think there about 1250notes!!!
Kenny_McGee Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Craig, I recently upgraded my front brakes on my MY00 uk turbo with minor mods. I've put on the Godspeed brake kit (335mm discs and ds2500 pads). Uses the existing calipar with spacers to go round the bigger discs. You need 17inch wheels for this kit. The brake kit was less than 700 and 500 for new wheels and tyres. But the effect is awesome :-) Cheers Kenny
dipsy Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Craig m have a look on demon tweeks web site or if you have the performance mag by demon tweeks .Theres brake kits from Ap racing and brembo
Gumball Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 going through pads and discs or a good standard is still way cheaper than going through pads and discs from the likes of the 6pot setups. IMHO
drb5 Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 But the 6 pot set-up will last miles and miles, more than the 4 pot set-up.
craig_murray Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Im trying not to spend too much would like to keep it under a grand. I know the AP 6 pots with 355mm's are amazing but the cheapest ive seen them is £1495 at TSL Motorsport in Nottingham. Im running 18 inch P1s so the 355s should fit. Has anyone seen the AP 6 pots cheaper and where ? Kenny McGee where did you buy your Godspeed kit and pads from sounds good for the money mate. Does anyone else have experience with this kit ? Thanks again guys. Craig
Kenny_McGee Posted August 22, 2005 Posted August 22, 2005 Craig Visit this site Godspeed brake kit Follow the link for Subaru 335 kit The price is 625 squid i believe - but i went for the grooved disks so my price was 50 quid more. Cheers Kenny
craig_murray Posted August 22, 2005 Author Posted August 22, 2005 Thanks Kenny mucho appreciated , i'll have a look just now. cheers Craig
