Gumball Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 I have noticed one severe drawback to a subaru impreza today after i went to use my driver and the arm of the boot had crushed the shaft of my King Cobra 454 comp rendering it unuseable !!! This is the only drawback other than optimax i have encountered had to play with a 3 wood instead and cut about like a snake wrangler in a phonebox. all over the place.
Bing Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Nevermind mate it would be banned in a few years anyway
st3ph3n Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 Chris, I was quite pleased with the boot space for golf clubs. My old vectra struggled to get a set in even at an angle, and that was the larger booted hatch back. Not sure if my driver is particularly long or not. Having said that, I don't even know what driver I'm using right now as my brother has gone back to his old one that he'd given to me. A club I'd been hitting rather nicely too. But he's the club champ as of yesterday, so I can't grudge him it.
Guest Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 most of the modern drivers will have t be removed from the bag to fit in .... too long!! .... drivers were 43 inches ... now 45 inches or 46 inches.
dipsy Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Hello chris does that mean no more holes in one .You must be able to get a new shaft for it
dougster Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 King Cobra's are for girls!! Off to Slaley Hall in the morning for four days of golf!!!!!!!! 9 degree Titleist in the bag with Taylor Made fairway woods!!! (PS more room in the back of a Honda Accord m8!!!!)
st3ph3n Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 9! pshhhhhhhh! I had a quick check, was on the Titleist 975D. 8.5 degree. Now back to the 9.5 Taylor Made. I should have bought the Titleist for £50 like my brother offered, but no, I had to be the cheapskate. He got himself one of these new R7s, but he's left it in the bag until the end of the season. Got Cobra irons though. Love them.
dougster Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Who's arguing about 0.5? I think my old Callaway Warbird and Taylor Made Burner drivers were 9 but they're off a while back. I'll take pictures on course to sicken you all at work!!!!!!
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Dougsy - it that whay you tell Dianne when your off in the Wagon on a dogging tour of Scotland I hate and love Golf depending on my mood. Dont play very often and it's usually through work - at the moment I'm off it and the new bag ain't see uv light for months Have a splendid a ( view of some wummins ) round my son Cal
spooks Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Hoping to get back out on the course for the first time in about 2 years tomoz............. this could be fun LOL Spooks
st3ph3n Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Slaley is very good apparently too. My dad organised some stays down there for some corporate customers and so he's stayed in the place and played round the course. Played at Dalmahoy in June. Was not too shabby. Not the most vintage golf I'll grant you, but a decent round none the less. Especially as it was free! The guy who won the competition for the free 4 ball, a fellow scooby owner too, had never played a full 18 holes before, so it was a bit of a stern test for his game.
dougster Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maxfli black? Any ideas if JJB are stocking them as I could pop into World of Golf tomorrow before heading south. Even a box of Noodles or some Revolutions would do.
Gumball Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 dougster- King cobras are for 300 yard hitters. the titleist driver name drop alerts me as i already knew that you are a single figure handicapper. so am i, as a thousands of people in scotland. get yourself down to the world of golf in the morning and get 300 cheap distance balls for the round tomorrow. LOL
dougster Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 Sod the distance if you have absolutely no feel with irons and a White Hot putter. I'll still hit the cover off a balata style soft feel ball. When was the last time you hit a Pinnacle 'pebble'????? My fillings are still recovering!!!
Gumball Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 i use ben hogans or maxfli blacks only. i pebble dashed last night if thats any use?
Guest Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 the balls to use now are the maxfli a10's or nike's offering. on the driver front i have a 8 deg orlimar ... none of this 8.5. mind you i also have a cobra ti driver. not played for a while though .... someone more important .... my daughter ....... but she will be the next michelle wi or annika.
peter_macgowan Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I had a megane coupe before the impreza and it was a very very tight squeeze. A good sized boot was a must when I was looking for a new car. Looks ok, handling, quick and a big boot. I know an Impreza. I do a lot off golfing 2 bags are ok in the boot 3 I find a bit of squeeze due to the hinge bits. Anyway I use a Wilson Deep Red II 9.5 stiff shaft. I keep my old driver handy Original Deep Red 10.0 regular incase I start spraying balls over the place. Balls I play either Pro V 1 or Maxfli Noodles Any old ball for a bounce game even a Commando
st3ph3n Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 I wish I was good enough to care what balls I used. Top Flite bricks in bulk from Costco do me nicely.
