billyboy Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 It was later last year that i posted about Santa Cruise. We managed over 300 pressies for Yorkhill Hospital and i hope that we can better that for this year. If every member buys a present to the value of £10 which is not a lot to ask we can easily beat the 300 mark so we can give pressies to perhaps a childrens home. All i ask is that all the people who got involved last year give a little more this year and we can make somemore kids christmas happier. From the bottom of my heart i thank you. Billyboy
dipsy Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 See the next sidc morning at knockhill can't you's go round with buckets collecting just an idea

2559B Posted August 15, 2005 Posted August 15, 2005 << Well you can all get your walking shoes out and help out on Saturday with a sponsored walk across the FRB, tis only 3 miles PM me for a sponsor form Spooks >> only one problem with this weekend for me mate ................. there is a certain football game taking place in glasgow ...... billyboy Posted August 16, 2005 Author Posted August 16, 2005 Back at work today and raised almost £50 in half an hour.
karps Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Count me in again this year (cant make the walk spooks due to work). Some things have been discussed in different areas but can we sort out in plenty time :- what day, what time, what places to give to, who's taking part, what the plan is, etc. I know that each area have their own ideas for the santa cruise, so lets bring them all together and come to an AMICABLE AGREEMENT for what happens on the day ok its early days, but the sooner these things are known to everyone the better it will be on the day. From what i heard i think that F+M mag wanted to come along this year on the day to do a write up after our great efforts last year but i might be wrong. last year was good ......... this year will be GREAT
imprezapete Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 I was under the impression that we would be doing 2 or 3 hospitals, one in glasgow, edinburgh and a northern based hospital. Can anyone confirm the status of this please RO's
spooks Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Pete, as you are aware this is what i have been aiming for since i began the collection in march at the rolling road day. This subject has been risen on more than one occasion at our meets, if there are any objections to this please let it be known. Spooks
scoobymadburd Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 F+M do want to come along have been talking to Fraz and he said give him a date and he will do his best for us this year!!! claire
billyboy Posted August 18, 2005 Author Posted August 18, 2005 Cool, Ive got £150 pledged for Saturdays walk already.
andy Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 Partly to bump this back to the top, but also to say apart from the £50 I already pledged over the DEFRA thing, I reckon I can pull at least another ton out of the gits at work, plus a few quid more from Trials folk in Scotland. I've not been to a meet yet (deferred due to nasty scratches on Scooby and ongoing fight with Inland Revenue preventing me from getting them fixed ), but see this as a fantastic and very worthwhile event and something I'd very much like to be part of. However, I would never jump on the back of the efforts of others and would only partake if I made a reasonable donation. I reckon at VERY least £250 once I get my efforts going.
karps Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 me and billy will have to remember to smile for the camera this year
billyboy Posted August 20, 2005 Author Posted August 20, 2005 Aye Noel and you will have to pose without a fag in your hawn.
billyboy Posted August 20, 2005 Author Posted August 20, 2005 Ok peeps. Storage of pressies.Noel u up for it gain mate? Contact with Yorkhill to set up time, date parking etc Claire hows about you? After we find out how much cash we have to spend some of us need to go shopping and try to negotiate a deal with Toys R Us or similar. R.os will have to speak to dealers in their area for donations.A hard task no doubt. And this year after the event we go home park the cars and go out for a quiet refreshment somewhere. No arguments were doing it. Im the boss dae what yer telt ok? Also we need to think of where else we would like to donate presents to.Any suggestions? People i thank you.Heres to another great Santa Cruise
spooks Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 Im getting the feeling that other areas are about to get the shaft, please note this is not only for Yorkhill. Edinburgh and Livingston sick kids are being collected for as well and if other Hospitals are to be collected for then we need to collect in other area's. Spooks
karps Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 youre right spooks its not just about Yorkhill, but i think billy's only talking about arrangements in his area. It WILL be Scotland wide this year with the help and co-ordination of all RO's i would suggest we donate to more than one place in each area if its possible, that way we can spread the prezzies around, and get a drive. We had some great looks last year with us all in convoy with our cars decked out in xmas decorations. Im sure people will have ideas on who to donate to and sort it out at a local meet with RO's So suggestions on a post? Glasgow area Central area Lothian/Borders Northern/ Aberdeen Tayside Ayrshire Sorry if im going on a bit, its just that i feel we should all be working as Scottish Scoobies on this, not just glasgow and lothian
WRC No 1 Posted August 20, 2005 Posted August 20, 2005 I've got no problem dealing with that again Billy boy would the other Ro's like to tell me there destination and i will contact their hospital as well??? As we would like to try make it a date to suit everyone!!! claire
pink pepper Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 << After we find out how much cash we have to spend some of us need to go shopping and try to negotiate a deal with Toys R Us or similar. >> well if you need any help in this department i'm sure all the ladies will be willing to help out???? I have been known for my wrapping abilities, i'm not sure if you wrapped the presents last year or not? but i'd be more than willing to help out with gift wrapping them......
micra_wrc Posted August 21, 2005 Posted August 21, 2005 << It WILL be Scotland wide this year with the help and co-ordination of all RO's >> ! second that Noel. I think we can learn from last year and with a bit of organisation and graft, we can pull this off, go round a few hospitals and make a day out of it. I know that we have talked a lot about this at meets but time is running out and decisions need to be made. << I have been known for my wrapping abilities, i'm not sure if you wrapped the presents last year or not? but i'd be more than willing to help out with gift wrapping them...... >> Jodi, Most of the presents we handed out last year were wrapped . Being totally girly and in the festive mood, I made up SIDC gift tags on our presents, for that extra touch! clicky for scooby pressies Imy PS - I still have the contact details of the PR chap at Yorkhill we met last year and he's 100% ready to help us organise things if we tell him what we need and give him a date.
