Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Finally found a set of alloys for the STI. now im faced with the following dilemma. GOLD OR BLACK for the WR Blue STI8??????????? please tell me what you think ...........................
RS Grant Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Defo black mate... there was a guy selling a 2.5 UK300 on 18" Prodrives in Black and it looked mean as fook!! Are they the Rotas?? Cheers, Grant
Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 AYE MATE. the only thing about the rots is the price. i their very well proced which makes me think that the quality might not be as good as prodrive for instance? i like the black too.
RS Grant Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 From what I've read on various Forums, they are incredibly light wheels but are still very strong. The Honda boys absolutely love them....... If they can sort me out a decent deal on a wheel that will clear my brakes, I'll be considering them when I go for some 18's on the GT4 because you get awesome prices on Rotas from RareRims. Cheers, Grant
RS Grant Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Aye, Rare-Rims can only knock a tenner off that... and they arent listing the TarmacII's just the Gra's instead. Cheers, Grant
Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 any more opinions for all the people that are looking but not posting?????
sheep Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Go for the black mate , my brother has a rhiems blue evo 6 ( he whispered ) with black ultralite a-techs and it looks cracking. evo6
st3ph3n Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 You know my thoughts already Chris, but for the record again - Black. It will look completely different from everyone elses.
derek_robertson Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Personally on a blue car I would choose gold with 2nd choice being silver. The black wheels would look once you resprayed the g-machine WHITE But as it's your choice & yours alone at the end of the day........................................... .........you'll probably fall asleep See ya, Del
Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 your mad derek. thats what ill do then, respray a car to go with the wheels. lol and the end of the day................................................................................ its the morra
craig_murray Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Yeh black mate totally different. Nice rims , they look exactly like my Prodrive 18s( titanium silver ). They were £250 a corner not including rubber. They fit real snug lowered on my Teins. Cheers Craig
spooks Posted July 31, 2005 Posted July 31, 2005 Steel grey no questions. Would like to see the Bronze ones in the flesh as well..may be interesting Spooks

Gumball Posted July 31, 2005 Author Posted July 31, 2005 i need someone to photoshop them onto my car, very good idea. i think that black ones are the kiddies now !!!!!!!!
darryll Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 defo the black ,they aint just flat black either they have a little glitter to them aswell best wheels i have ever bought for the money did u try midland wheels on ebay u can have them with toyos or yokohama u also get locking nuts and chrome studs wi them best price i have saw. im sure i alrdy says this before lol.
Gumball Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 you did say it before mate. im a nightmare when it comes to buying things. its good. no its not, yes it is, no its not etc etc all day i can never make up my mind thanks for the help again
ian_finlayson Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Personally I would go for steel grey or plain silver, black would hide the wheels too much. 18s are there to look good. As for the price - fantastic, I've seen them on ebay. My only concern is weight. I've read so much about people upgrading an inch and losing lots on the handling front. Its all about unsprung weight and I would be wary of cheaper wheels. BBS are expensive because of quality and weight. My choice would be save an extra 300 notes get on the RB5OC site and see the group buy for original subaru speedline wheels. £800 for original wheels. Ian
dougster Posted August 1, 2005 Posted August 1, 2005 Finnie, I hear what you say as I went for looks with my Radius R3s which weigh a ton but are really strong. I have lost some low end acceleration but all that nice weight and my geometry settings make the car handle the way I want........................
Gumball Posted August 1, 2005 Author Posted August 1, 2005 like it like it going to powder coat them black this week for stealth mode. then buy the gold ones shown above thanks very much for your opinions and help. Cheers Dougster
