dougster Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Dipsy I have some reading on catch can/PCV systems if you want me to send it via PM?
the squiggle Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 << Dipsy I have some reading on catch can/PVC systems if you want me to send it via PM? >> Dont want to be pedantic but it is PCV, which stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. This is the system that Subaru uses to replace the old crankcase gases with fresh air from the induction. Unless you are referring to replacement double glazing, in which case i apoligise. Grant
dougster Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 I can do windows if required. Edited for being so silly.
sma01 Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Think this is something that would help, am sure Youngo (P1SUB) fitted one of these, try PM'ing him and he'll tell you for def mate
dipsy Posted July 5, 2005 Author Posted July 5, 2005 I read stuff regarding breather system on andy forrest web site. He writes that the crankcase breather can cauase these problems
WUZ Posted July 5, 2005 Posted July 5, 2005 Grant - the PCV allows the Crankcase oil vapours to be "sucked out" of the Crankcase and into the Inlet Manifold (on idle) but on boost this valve closes (otherwise you'll get 1.2 bar of boost pressure blowing out all the seals!). I would consider attaching the Crankcase breather with the Cam breathers to the Oil Catch Can. remember to blank off the PCV or fit a 2" peice of hose with a blank on it onto the PCV. Russell
