andrew_lally Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Unfortunately my clutch gave way today and kept slipping on the dyno...but at least it read 120bhp...woohoo.... Some pretty potent scoobs on show....good show But it has to be said that its a sad day when we have to hire in a R34 gtr to keep take the most powerfull run of the day away from an old cossie hahahaha cmon the the old blue ovals...318bhp out o an old sierra....superb cheers andy
andrew_lally Posted June 25, 2005 Author Posted June 25, 2005 By the way....was it just me or was fee looking hot today!!!! superb!!!
drb5 Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 Shock result for me...290brake and 236torque. Not the best torque figure, but up the boost, get rid of some rich fuelling and i should easily see 300.
higgy Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 277.3 bhp and 293.7 ft.lb. and a fu(ked exhaust temprature sender unit after siting on the dyno for so long
BriWRX Posted June 25, 2005 Posted June 25, 2005 A big thx to Jason for organising the day at Dastek. 261.0 bhp and 231.9 torque, now i can do some more mods and see where i can get to. Brian.
andrew_lally Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 Man you sure know how to winge for a bloke higgy....you must be in touch with your feminine side hahahaha have to say i was impressed with the setup at dastek.... cheers andy
jasonb Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Big thanks to dastek Also well happy with 316bhp and 288lb.ft of torque cheers to all who turned up
Fee Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 aw shucks...you'll make me blush!!! Sorry I was so quiet.... a little shy...and a lot hungover!!!!! Cheers jason for organising it Can't decide what I make of dastek........my last car got 146 or something close (cant really remember) and got 162 at Star...they did say that star tend to over estimate...but to be fair, they're hardly going to say that their estimates are worse!!! Either way...I'm happy with my results
drb5 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 What did you get Fee? What's been done and what fuel do you use?
Fee Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 289 BHP 243 torque Standard Use optimax with NF Race Octane Booster
drb5 Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Near perfect numbers considering then. Better power than i'd expect, but maybe SLIGHTLY lower torque. Excellent base.
jasonb Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 << aw shucks...you'll make me blush!!! Sorry I was so quiet.... a little shy...and a lot hungover!!!!! Cheers jason for organising it >> I am sure you will come out of your shell next time
ANDYJDMSTI Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 << 289 BHP 243 torque Standard Use optimax with NF Race Octane Booster >> exhaust does not look too "standard"
Adam Kindness Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Fee you dafty.... Its got one CAT out, and a bigger bore exhaust. Bar that its standard engine wise. Std boost, map, etc Can you post up a pic of the plot?
iroc-si Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Thanks to Jason for organising a good day out! Well up until they put my car on the rollers.... Can't say I was all that impressed with their system and the fact that it couldn't cope with the electrics in my car. Suspect that the way they do the rpm measurement is prone to error, which would screw their power figures. Could be interesting if they want my help in fixing their kit, but I doubt they'll bother. Anyhew, it was still good to see all those other cars run, and meet folks. Si.
RS Grant Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Have to say I was well impressed that my car got fastest Honda of the Day...... 167.1 bhp!! You can reeeeally feel the .1 towards the top of the rev range.. Found out that my car would have kept revving, but Gerry said it was best to ease off at 8,800rpm!! Cheers, Grant

iroc-si Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 << How many ponies is the i-rocis pushing out do you think mate?????????? >> I reckon that it should be in the 200-250 range. Its engine was made up from an 1979 5.7litre that was 190bhp, and a 1985 5.0litre engine also 190bhp. All the best bits of both have been combined along with a new intake, better carb, headers. All in all nothing to up the power much, just less restrictive bits. I'll leave any real performance mods until I've learnt how to handle what its got at the moment..... Si.
higgy Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 It's good to see that i was not the only one dissapointed with dasteks performance. With that huge probe stuck up my cars arse for 30 min they have managed to burn out my exhaust temp probe. Next time ,someone else can go first Not impressed Higgy
lessels Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 great day on saturday,i was quite impressed with the setup and it was good to see some of the guys(and gals)from the forum, didnt think your car would even make 120bhp slapheed ha ha!! nice skyline at the end but!! 255.4bhp 237lbft 99 uk classic(almost standard)
dipsy Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 lessels did you find out if it has had remap after it had been on the rolling road .I was the guy you were speaking to when you asked about were the ecu was
Dastek Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Hi Guys, Just a quick post to say thanks for coming along & especially so to Jason for organising it (thanks for the crack at the end with your fellow Dundonians) I am however a little disappointed to see that some were not so happy. Higgy could you let me know what the exact problem is with your vehicle, as I can not see the relationship between your car sitting on the dyno with a lambda probe up it?s backbox & the failure of your EGT sensor? Simon, I did apologise to you on the day about not being able to run your car, due to some stray electrical noise affecting our dyno?s speed control loop. We pride ourselves in having probably the most sensitive & repeatable dyno in the country with unsurpassed cooling & grip, as this was hopefully evident with the run on the Skyline, so your comments on not being impressed with our setup seem a little harsh. I hope you can see our point on the low priority of sorting out the problem that occurred whilst testing your car, as we have only had 4 instances (all on older style cars) of this problem in over 2000 cars tested, & it doesn?t make commercial sense for us to spend much time on a problem that is vary rare & also that only manifest?s itself on dyno days, which is the only time we see this era of car. I hope that doesn?t come over too arrogant, as it?s not meant so, but I?m just purely trying to explain our point of view. Anyway hope to see you all again soon. Cheers, Gerry PS ? Andy I also meant to see if you paid for your run, as I wouldn?t have charged given the slipping clutch & no print outs, so if you did, apologies from me & I?ll either send you the cash, or stick you on for a credit for your next visit, please let me know.
jcscoob Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 << great day on saturday,i was quite impressed with the setup and it was good to see some of the guys(and gals)from the forum, didnt think your car would even make 120bhp slapheed ha ha!! nice skyline at the end but!! 255.4bhp 237lbft 99 uk classic(almost standard) >> ho got 255 out a semi standard 99 classic !! pls come forward..
drb5 Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Gerry Can you PM me your usual cost's for dyno run's? I'll be popping up again fairly soon, once i've sorted the over fuelling.
