oobster Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Anyone give me feedback, advice etc on getting a tracker fitted? I know absolutely nothing about them, apart from the little i've picked up from watching they police traffic car documentaries on the TV. How much can I expect to pay to have one fitted? What's the best one to get? Who should I try in central Scotland area? Insurance is due for renewal soon and i'd like to get the premium down a bit. Thanks in advance for any help given.
st3ph3n Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 I got one fitted to mine from new. I have the tracker retrieve, which means I need to phone them to tell them it's stolen and it's not monitored for un-authorised activity. Costs can be found here.
Bing Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Tracker monitor - circa £300 as far as I can remember and about £100 per year. Cant go wrong and good peace of mind (if there's such a thing)
paddy247 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 agree with bing 300 -500 depending on model, the dearer ones are a bit more advanced, rather than just being able to find your car when nicked, prob the best 300 or so quid you can spend on the scooby.
RossRB5 Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 Some are GPS-based like RAC Trackstar, some like Tracker have fixed land-based nodes across the country so these are better if your car gets put into a container, for example, when a GPS-based system will become pretty much useless! Got mine fitted in January this year, went to Drivers in Glasgow (ask for Bill), very good service took close to a full day to fit, some take only half a day I believe. Yeah don't think you'll find one cheaper than about 300quid. Like others have said, just gives you a bit more piece of mind, but I actually got mine fitted to satisfy my insurance company and reduce the premium (a bit!!). All the best Ross
sma01 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 best place to go in central scotland area would be Skidz mate, they will sort you out no problem
scoobykev Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Tracker retreive cost me £300 to get fitted and subscription is £100 per year or i paid one off payment of another£300 and that gets me subscription for as long as i have the car, it was fitted through the dealers when i bought the car
pink pepper Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Hi Andy we got one fitted with RAC trackstar, track and retreive, cost 500 quid supplied and fitted plus subscribtion charge every month. The only thing with RAC was they kept sending us (or not) the wrong tracker certificate (someone else's details) so the insurance wouldn't cover u until they had seen this. We ordered it online and got fitted within 2 days which was great but their lack of providing the correct certificate has clouded my judgement on them good luck!! Jodi
