ally-b Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Missed it again Four months I've been a member here ,and I've not yet made a local meet. I thought I'd manage to get to tonights, but as usual , a job came up at the last minute that "had to be done" I hope I can make the next one
fraser_drinkwater Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 A well attended meet and a good laugh lets keep this up and enjoy the true spirit of the Gumball.
the squiggle Posted April 29, 2005 Author Posted April 29, 2005 A good quality productive meet. Sorry for picking the smallest room in the place, i did not think that many peeps would appear. So big thanks to all that turned up and what an excellent turn out considering only a weeks notice. 40+ peeps is some going for a local meet and with 26 Subaru's + Micra + Focus + BMW. Good to see a few new faces there and a few faces i can finally put a name too. Got a few items for the car, Lambdalink, new O2 sensor and a Robert Burns Jacket for me from Ebay. Thanks for telling me my fly was undone when i got up to introduce myself, i know you were all distracted by my loverly gap toothed smile. Grant
karps Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 absolutly brilliant to see such a big turn out, and good to meet new faces with everyone mixing well
wrxmania Posted April 29, 2005 Posted April 29, 2005 Robert Burns Jacket? To A Haggis by Robert Burns: Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o the puddin'-race! Aboon them a' ye tak your place, Painch, tripe, or thairm: Weel are ye wordy of a grace As lang's my arm. The groaning trencher there ye fill, Your hurdies like a distant hill, Your pin wad help to mend a mill In time o need, While thro your pores the dews distil Like amber bead. His knife see rustic Labour dight, An cut you up wi ready slight, Trenching your gushing entrails bright, Like onie ditch; And then, O what a glorious sight, Warm-reekin, rich! Then, horn for horn, they stretch an strive: Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive, Till a' their weel-swall'd kytes belyve Are bent like drums; The auld Guidman, maist like to rive, 'Bethankit' hums. Is there that owre his French ragout, Or olio that wad staw a sow, Or fricassee wad mak her spew Wi perfect sconner, Looks down wi sneering, scornfu view On sic a dinner? Poor devil! see him owre his trash, As feckless as a wither'd rash, His spindle shank a guid whip-lash, His nieve a nit: Thro bloody flood or field to dash, O how unfit! But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed, The trembling earth resounds his tread, Clap in his walie nieve a blade, He'll make it whissle; An legs an arms, an heads will sned, Like taps o thrissle. Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care, And dish them out their bill o fare, Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware That jaups in luggies: But, if ye wish her gratefu prayer, Gie her a Haggis! Ah, the culture, Brian
