higgy Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 hi all . Yesterday i fitted a d-cat down pipe to the rest of my systom and the maf light (yellow light on dash) has not come on yet ,after some hard driving!!!! i have the cell fix but have not put it on. Does the car take a wile for this to happen. cheers Higgy
fraser_drinkwater Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 There is another pipe on the turbo i think it is this one when removed triggers the light, but its just a warning nothing major..lol There are 3 cats altogether
ANDYJDMSTI Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 mine was the same but then again i drove it like a fanny........still do..............allegedly!!!!!!!
the squiggle Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 << mine was the same but then again i drove it like a fanny........still do..............allegedly!!!!!!! >> On a JDM car there is one cat, on a UK car there is 2 cats[1 in up-pipe prior to turbo and 1 in downpipe] If you remove the cat in the up-pipe, that will trigger the Check Engine Light...[ CEL ] And by the way Andy, you drive like a fud not a fanny. Grant

Amazing what you can do with an extra 100 ponies. I still remember going to the Galloway Hills Rally down some real mens roads and Imy and Me had to wait for the fud with the big spoiler....................... The supposed third Cat on a UK car is a resonator, if it is the bulge in the centre pipe you are referring too, but hey what do i know. Grant
colin_ross Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 << but hey what do i know. Grant >> Apparantly an unhealthy amount about these cars. Anyone else think we should start a quiz The Squirrel thread and see how much he really knows?

spooks Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Well I can defo confirm there are 3 cats in Newage bugeye, and if you remove the Downpipe then it brings on Cat effiency CEL and up pipe Cat can sometimes throw up a fault with Cat temp. If your running a decatted downpipe and centre I would recomend also decatting the up pipe, not only for power/noise but some people noted the up pipe going nuclear and killing the turbo.how true this is I dont know but aint worth the worry. It can take upto 350/360 miles before the CEL comes on with a decat ( trust me i counted ) or if your unlucky it can take 10 ( also counted) Point to notice is that sometimes the CEL fix doesnt work. Had one fitted to mine and CEL glowed merrily, and annoyingly for ages. If your wanna sell your sports cat downpipe for 150 quid let me know Simon......aint I the most cheeky git ever Spooks
the squiggle Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 I remember we opened the bulge in the centre pipe on a UK300 and contained 2 holed baffle plates and wire wool tightly packed. Dont know if the car was std, it looked it but not sure. Hope i am wrong though, would be good to be wrong. Grant
john_robertson Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Thought the WRX newage had 3 CATS Up-pipe/Downpipe and the Link pipe hte resonator is after the Linkpipe one. The newage STi has 2 Downpipe and Linkpipe IIRC John.
2559B Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 dunno if this will help? sure someone can edit to highlight where cats(meoww) are!!
john_robertson Posted March 23, 2005 Posted March 23, 2005 Downpipe & Cat pipe contain cats, section 3 is the center resonator, the WRX also has a Cat fitted to the Uppipe. John.
