catalunya80 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Anyone any idea what could be wrong? When i turn the key it makes a rapid clicking sound and doesn't start Can anyone help?
Nelsdir Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 If it sounds like someone letting rip with an Uzi under yer bonnet it might well be your battery. Was with mine. Wouldn't turn over. An overnight charge sorted it until I got a new one - when I took the old one out half the cells were black Neil
IanJ Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I'd say more likely the starter solenoid. Check the wiring isn't loose. Be careful turning it over though, if it's arcing you may fry some expensive electrics (The ECU). Have you tried push (bump) starting it?

CAZ1562 Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Yip sounds like the battery is dead, mine done this a few times. Worth an overnight charge then you need to find out if anything is live that shouldn't be especially if you've been in an accident recently.
catalunya80 Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 Cheers, will get it checked out in the morning.
Marky-San Posted February 26, 2005 Posted February 26, 2005 Another vote for battery from me. I'd also get you alternator checked in case its over or undercharging.
catalunya80 Posted February 26, 2005 Author Posted February 26, 2005 The battery seems to be completely drained now.
catalunya80 Posted February 28, 2005 Author Posted February 28, 2005 Yeah you were right guys! the battery was being drained by the boot light due to the boot being slightly open with the accident last Monday. The light is now disconnected and all is fine, well apart from the massive dent in the back of my baby.
