Carl Davey Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Ok, i usually ignore these threads because they are posted so often... Therefore i feel i must apologise to anyone who feels i am covering old ground. I admit, i really should know this... Anyway! My original MY98 wheels left their 'best' in a galaxy far, far, far........ far away. They really should have been completely refurbished years ago when i bought the car. Seeing as the time will soon be near to put the blinging Speedlines back on where can i find someone who will do me a grand job of giving my wheels a makeover? The wheels are very corroded (paint flaking off, very yucky ) so it's far from a case of getting Keith P to wave his powder coating wand over them. These need taken right back to the metal!! They need as close to OE look/finish as possible as the car will most likely be sold on these wheels. Any suggestions?
SIMBO Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 well carl i got a set of wheels done by keith a few years back and they were really bad and they came out like new. david
jamie_wood Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Carl, there is a sh1t hot place in Carnoustie that can do these for you. Friend of mine had his alloys from his Tuscan done there, and his race car , and a rally car They can do them any colour you like and they come out as new. Dont have the number or the name, but it cant be hard to find. If you want I can call matey and get the companys name and number for you.
allan_thorne Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 quite a few of the guys from the mini forum use Blasted Alloys he's meant to be really good. quTel: 01561 378 148 Mob: 0777 328 3409
Carl Davey Posted February 17, 2005 Author Posted February 17, 2005 Thanks Jamie, i'd really like to keep it local unless there is no other way though. Mailing wheels isn't a favourite past time of mine and i only have one trip down south planned in the near future. David, i don't want to waste Keiths time if he can't tackle the corrosion. I'm not joking when i say they are really very, very rotten. By the way, i take it i'd have to have the tyres removed before Keith could get working on them?
dougster Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 My alloys were done in Carnoustie!!! Call Ewan at Coatech on 01241 854911. Stripped, straightened and balanced............as were my wheels!!!
Carl Davey Posted February 17, 2005 Author Posted February 17, 2005 Scottie, where is Blasted Alloys?
dougster Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I went from Glasgow and would not use anyone else. The service was FANTASTIC.
scoobykev Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 just had mine done by refurb-alloy in dundee 01382 818088 30quid each, fiver extra to repair any damage, tyres need to be off, they made a good job
RS Grant Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 Got wheels re-furb'd at Coatech in Carnousite too... They came out like new, they also needed straightened. Carl, I could pick them up when I come up for the Prodrive ECU and drop them off down there for you mate. Cheers, Grant
Carl Davey Posted February 17, 2005 Author Posted February 17, 2005 What Prodrive ECU? Have you decided to sort your injectors out yet Grant? As much as it is appreciated guys, i'd sacrifice a negligable difference in finish to save driving 100+ miles. Anywhere between Aberdeen and Elgin is good.

Boyakasha Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 I'll second that, KeithP did a great job on my wheels twice (Since then I have learned to stay away from kerbs and the edges of roundabouts ) Jools I touch goats
Carl Davey Posted February 18, 2005 Author Posted February 18, 2005 Erm.... Will give Keith a shout once i'm back. Knew he could finish the wheels but didn't know he could actually refurbish them too. Cheers all!
