~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 The new flaps took 3hrs and 40 mins to fit. Major ball-ache but worth it for the snug fit. I noticed a sticker was already peeling off though Me like... Malky - please pinch whichever one you like for the lanyard thing-me-jig - thanks
sti-zlv Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 I think I took even longer to fit my Lowe flaps, thought it would be easy, how wrong was I They look the baggers naggers though, also got a carbon exhaust guard of Scott to stop my bumper melting with all the flames the Blitz is spitting. Car looks good, you coming to AWD open day? Matt
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Hi Matt - do you have a clicky for the AWD meet ? I searched for it but could only find posts that were from December 04 and before Luckily i knew the flaps were a fokker to fit so budgeted 3.5 hrs for them as I was going to a wedding in the avo'. I used a towel to jam those retaining plastic nuts in place. Drilling inside the arches with an electric drill was muder polis. I could barely fit the drill in between the arch and the disc assembly
wrxmania Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Hey Cal, Looking good - I have thought of flaps for ages - what was the price? The wheels look good - the same colour as the 03 - WRX ones - best colour for black (and most colours really ) Brian
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Brian - Got the flaps from this guy (Scott Lowe). Nae cheap @ £140 for 4
sti-zlv Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Meet at AWD The angry man point for me was trying to get the drill under the arches, almost lost the plot several times All good though Matt
wrxmania Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Half the price of Subaru though I spoke to Scott briefly at the Japanese Auto Extravaganza last year - was gonna ask prices then but never did. They are £145 on site - did you manage to get a discount? Wish he'd do a group buy Also, can't be bothered with them getting ripped off - everyones flaps seem to get caught so be careful. Where did you pick up your STI wheels from? Brian
sti-zlv Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Brian when i was buying from Scott he gave me a good discount considering they are cheap to start with, give him a phone dont just buy of site Matt
wrxmania Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Cheers Matt, I quite like the look of the carbon fibre tailpipe guard too for my exhaust, All I need now is the cash
sti-zlv Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Got the carbon guard , looks the dogs. Very good fit, was worried about it bonding right with my driving, so now have to self tappers under my bumper out of sight Matt
Carl Davey Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Hi Cal, that does look very nice, for a bugly. Seriously, the STi/WR1 wheels really sharpen it up and being dark make it look quite a sinister vessel. Almost expect the grim reaper to be driving. The huge white STi stickers are a bit over-powering though. I'd be inclined to either have them off and leave them or swap them for smaller SUBARU ones.
Carl Davey Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Like these... More subtle and appropriate imo.
wrxmania Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Now that IS nice - I need flaps for the blobby!!
john_robertson Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 << Half the price of Subaru though I spoke to Scott briefly at the Japanese Auto Extravaganza last year - was gonna ask prices then but never did. Brian >> Brian, don't worry about them getting ripped off, IIRC Scotts flaps (oo'err) and brackets are direct copies of the STi ones and mine have took a beating on speedbumps etc, the fronts scrape on fun driving and going into the garage. John.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 11, 2005 Author Posted February 11, 2005 Carl - I know what you mean but I know they'll fall off soon enough . Besides leaving them blank was a no-no for me ! Scott L told me that they weren't jet wash friendly when I called him ( Brian - I think they were £135 with SIDC discount) One they look more delapidated I'll get some more robust stickers
fraser_drinkwater Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 Spot on mate the motor looks class, aren't you driving it up there as it look show room!
ANDYJDMSTI Posted February 11, 2005 Posted February 11, 2005 it looks pretty good Cal .............apart from the big white STI. Then again i cant talk as i have got pukka blue STI ones waiting for me when i get home
st3ph3n Posted February 12, 2005 Posted February 12, 2005 Got a set of Scott's flaps on mine: Not the best picture as it was a dull day (they all are) but they look the mutts up close. I did the smart thing and gave a guy £40 to fit mine.
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted February 12, 2005 Author Posted February 12, 2005 Looking good Stephano - They are a scunner to fit but you appreciate them more after the marathon fitting session ! make sure they wax oiled the hole in your arches !
scuba dou Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 Looks great Cal. Like Gee says, lots done in a short period
