frodge
i have had a look at that and it is helpfull but i am trying to find out a bit more if i can , according to the faq mine is a 250 bhp version and it is the first appearance of the sti but having looked at other places and talking to a few people there seems to be thing missing ie 4 pot calipers and coded door handles etc but it has stuff like walnut console and nardi wheel and gear knob . and does not have a sti badge or plate anywhere identifying it as a 'special' Link to comment
andy_tregarthen
The FAQ is spot on, loads of info, I learnt more in 20min of reading than ever before. How even downloaded to my Ipaq for instant info when on the road (Problem - engine spluttered to a stop due to having to much fun - Cause - Running out of fuel !! Nice1) Link to comment
frodge
i agree the faq is a good source , but as my missus says i always want more , and i would like to find out as much about my little baby as i possibly can . Link to comment
frodge
the one in the picture according to the chassis number and the faq section in this site. Link to comment
chrisp
iirc modified from production STI doesnt have the red manifold. The Interiors were all black and grey inserts with STI logo. Power wise on Japanese 100 ron fuel was : 94 wrx was 240ps = 237bhp 94 sti was 250ps = 247bhp Link to comment
CustomScoobyIOM
Spot on Chrisp. STI Version2 onwards had red inlet. No such model as a 250bhp one. Either 240-260-280bhp.... Pull up the carpet and remove the kickplate and tell us what the code is on your ECU. Z4/U8 etc.etc. Link to comment
ZippyEFC
4 pot calipers weren't around until MY99 as far as i'm aware so they aint missing m8. Link to comment
robert_harding
i though 4 pots were earlier than that , but just on cerain STI's,... Link to comment
robert_harding
september 1994....240ps october 1994...260ps Link to comment

frodge
the model no is a gc8b48d which according to the faq is 250bhp , also mine has the black interior with red and walnut trim on the center console and dash and not an sti logo in sight , you are right in that it does not have red inlet , if i remember right the ecu code is 2c on it but i will check again later on my break as i am on nights , sad eh . chrisp
GC8B48D model code was used for the 240ps wrx as well as the wrx sti for that year (look at the faq and go two up). So unfortunately as it an early one you cant tell by model number alone. Link to comment
frodge
well there you go that will teach me to read properly in future , cheeers for that . i will have to change my profile now , still good fun at 240 though Link to comment
chrisp
Just means it will be more satistfying when you modded it and get more bhp from it. Link to comment
frodge
amen to that , the only problem is , where the hell do you start first and on a limited budget ebay may get a bit of a hammering , any ideas for performance gains on a budget . good thing is , now i know it is not an sti , it is good as it means it is less likely to be a dodgy car as it all looks about right for a standard wrx .
