Del,

I'm not sure about the marquee. The trouble is that it won't fit into an Impreza, unless it's a wagon with the back seats folded down. It also takes the best part of an hour to assemble, and the last time we had it at Knockhill we had to take it down due to the high winds, despite it being physically tied onto two parked cars! Given the potential weather forecast for early March, and the problems of getting it there and returned again, I'd probably recommend leaving it this time until it's a nicer warmer day.

What we really need is our own Scottish Scoobies Tentface-icon-small-cool.gif

One slightly smaller than the SIDC marquee which would make it cheaper to buy, easier to errect & transport.

This idea has the backing of upstairsface-icon-small-wink.gif

See ya,

It has the backing ONLY if we can raise the sponsorship for purchase.

The SIDC marquee is big and I only just managed to get it in the wagon!!

Go on DEL, fit a towbar and I'll source you an ABBEY SWIFT!!!!

Where exactly do you plan to use our 'own' marquee, hot hatch days???!!!!???face-icon-small-shocked.gif

Here we go againface-icon-small-wink.gif

Knockhill - trackdays,motorfair,rally superspecial

Crail

Doune

Kames

Alford - Scottish National

Any other events that members can think of wanting to use their tent/marquee at,after all the club should cater for all members & their choice of motoring events, whether it be hot hatch, drag racing, drifting, rallying or F1.

Too many folks slagging off the younger motorists with their hot hatches, not everybody started out with a Subaruface-icon-small-tongue.gifface-icon-small-happy.gif

& YES it will require funding from sponsors/advertisers.............so what????

......nothing ventured ,nothing gained!!!!!

Instead of taking the p.ss face-icon-small-mad.gif out of the idea I feel the other R.O.s should be listening to what the majority

of members are looking for. It was excactley the same with the lanyard idea what response from other R.o's ...........apart from Glasgow or Ayrshire NONE ! We as members are now expecting a little bit more from the club . Some more support and less pi.s taking would be appreciated. There are plenty of members willing to help with ideas and support the club and help it grow . GET A GRIP face-icon-small-wink.gif and remember its not just what you want but what the majority wantsface-icon-small-happy.gif

I am trying to be realistic and I have listened and probably have heard the majority of views over the years.

The lanyard idea is, as I have said before, the best solution to the issue of getting to know people.

I personally however, am not convinced that I would wear one unless at a track day like KH or Kames. Again this is what the majority of people I have spoken to have intimated.

The marquee would be great but I don't see where the funding is going to come from.

The club is gaining strength in Scotland and the forum has NEVER been as busy.

We will never be able to please everyone but hopefully this will be a great season to look forward to.

A meeting of the ROs will hopefully take place very soon and we can discuss things further.

Guys, and this is to everyone involved in this AND other threads you can take from it what you want. The club doesnt need need this nonsense, Nor do we need shop stewards or bickering, snidey remarks or ill appreciated banter. I like a crack, I like sailing close to the wind with the moderators and winding people up, but its always in good faith and always tongue in cheek. I left SN because of the pish we are starting to see on this place now. This used to be sacred ground. Where people who enjoyed subaru and subaru things spoke. And thats the main reason the majority came to this sight when the SN defection happened. It was a turf where there was manners, a bit of banter and the moderators who were on the net and ran the club, were respected, thier word was final. Like a referee at an Old Firm match. If you seeked a reason for a decision it was given end of story, if you disagreed you spoke like adults and didnt do the he said she said, you not doing your job, we all want this so stuff you, nonsense. Incidentally, thats why they are there, moderators, or did you not know that? I dont want my club stuff displayed at chavtastic events, it gives the wrong impression its a club that respects the road the car and the owners, more importantly THE LAW. I dont want wee boys smoking thier tyres and burning out, and doughnuts associated with my club in a carpark. I dont want my club associated with trashy car magazines etc. Am I a scooby snob? Yes I probably am, but I dont have a flashy scooby, and I started off in a mini then a fiesta superport and drove crappy cars because I couldnt afford a nice car so dont start that nonsense either, Ask the majority of people on here and they will tell you the same, they are not rich or snobby but they want thier club to have a certain standing as well. As far as Hinting that a RO was misbehaving in a new borrowed car is outragous as well, not only is it a lie, it is damaging to him and the relationship the club has with the garage. Shame on you for even saying it in jest.

If you want to drive to england to get a heavy tent to have it blown away at KH and for it to weigh a tonne once its wet, and try to dry it out and drive it back to england again, then crack on. Ide much rather use n the summer for the scottish big one, than mess about wasting money on it at this time of year. Or are you just causing trouble? Do you really need a tent to make you feel like a member of the gang? Lets raise money and buy our own, FFS. We dont need disharmony, nor do we need a union rep etc. If you dont like it go away and start your own car club that tolerates these arguments and s**tstirring. But dont do it here because this club and the vast majority of people in it are happy and dont want to see or hear it, we are happy with the club the way it is thank you.

This used to be such a nice place, dont ruin it.

Just a quick note to everyone. We have been planning for some time to get a 2nd marquee base that we'll be able to keep up here in Scotland for our events. Rather than buy new (about £2k!), we're looking to pick up a 2nd hand one for sensible money. This base would be kept up here (still need to sort out the logistics of moving it between events, as it can cost £100+ to get it couriered due it's size/weight). It would then just be a case of transporting the cover, which will easily fit in the boot of any car, and doesn't cost much to transport. Having assembled/dismantled the existing marquee a few times now, I can confirm that it's not something you want to do on a day that's wet or windy face-icon-small-wink.gif

Rest assured the marquee will be up here for a few events this year face-icon-small-happy.gif

We're also looking into the possibility of a smaller marquee which is easier to transport, and can be easily moved around for different events.

As a club, we've also recently bought some large flag pole type things, with SIDC flags on top - again which are easy to transport. Look out for these at events this year as well.

Cheers

What's the script for those of us unlucky enough not to have been able to get one of the track slots re parking at the circuit?

Never been before but want to take my son up with me and don't want to park my nice gleaming motor in a muddy field. (As I had to at the BTCC last year - but then there was a few thousand folks there!)
