We have 16 meters (50 ft) seas running right now and building, being pushed along with 75 knts winds (86.3 MPH) gusting over 80 knts (92.06 MPH).

Yeah get some pics up if possible Jools. face-icon-small-cool.gif

We had a max wave height of 17 metres averaging a meagre 5 last trip. Pales in comparision but by far the best i've seen in my short time offshore. Would love to be on a semi or FPSO for some funky weather, only once though i bet. face-icon-small-happy.gif

Here's hoping for some interesting weather as of Tuesday...!

Damn ! Sounds very dodgy out there Joolsy !

I used to move semi-subs for a living and have seen some real ropey weather in my time. Typoon season in the Taiwan strait = huge weight loss after been sick as a dog for 2 weeks. I once spent 23 days moving an accomodation jack-up due to bad weather.

If it was rough on tow on the Sedco rigs and your cabin was at the corner od the rig the toilets would sometimes flood the toilets..........wet carpets were never fun face-icon-small-sad.gif

Keep safe out there folks !

I know what you mean Jools we are sitting in the middle of it 130 miles East of Aberdeen. Our Met system is down (where is Rob D when you need him?) but our standby vessel was reporting wind over 90 kts through the day. its dropped off a bit now and only doing 60 kts. the dayshift reported huge waves hiiting the wellhead jacket. I am glad that I am on a fixed Platform and not one of them semi-subs.

JOOLS - know what you mean M8! Working on the Forties field at the moment and the weather has been CRAZY. 80 knot gusts and 8M seas with the winds holding a steady 60-65 knots all day long.

Its starting to come down now but the rig is shut down until it does............More time on th ePC for me!

Just back on line after we lost the comms yesterday after lunch time.....It was blowing 85 knots when we lost all the TV satellites and then the bloody comms went as well.

Regarding rigs, I?m on a Keppel Fels Mod V design Heavy Duty Jack Up with ?transparent legs? and we got through yesterday with no real damage suffered, unlike the Maersk Oil & Gas platforms on the Ekofisk locations. 95 knts recorded up there North of our location and they took a right beating. Several people throughout Denmark were killed as the storm hit mainland Denmark through the night.

Good news there are another two fronts moving in and over the UK and out to the North Sea so it?s not all over just yet lads. Picking back up tonight face-icon-small-sad.gif

Wind speed off the scale at 99 knots last night. face-icon-small-happy.gif All work suspended today and we've only to go out in pairs. Fcekin' ace this is, until someone gets twatted by a low-flying piece of lagging...

OOE was out taking pictures before we came off shift this morning, will try and track them down. face-icon-small-cool.gif

Here's a couple of pictures, we peaked at 94 knots this morning and 21 metre waves

To give you an idea as I don't have any pictures in normal sea conditions, the stairs lead down to the platform 7 metres from sea level on normal conditions.
